Can we just clarify for those only posting "new" courses played that is not what the OP asked.

Started this year as always only playing Dukes Meadows.
During the summer I took the plunge playing Strawberry Hill, hitting my driver For the 1st time outside the range. Played Sunbury 9 hole a few times before joining and now playing Sunbury 18 hole.

Didn't play that many courses this year of those that I did the one I enjoyed most was St Andrews New course, really enjoyed the Jubilee as well which had beaten me up a bit the last time I played it.
A bit dissapointed with Scotscraig after having heard a lot of positives, not that it was a bad course but the round seemed to take forever and it wasn't quite as good as I was expecting.

Big fan of the New course. A must play when in St Andrews.

A few new courses for me and a few returns to old favourites.

New course highlight would be Sandiway.

Old favourites would be Sunningdale Old & New, Hankley Common (love it there) and The Addington.

Courses I'd really been looking forward to but the weather so bad that rounds were curtailed; Hunstanton, Brancaster and Delamere Forest.

Definitely one of the worst years for weather that I can remember.
Agree with Hankley. Such a relaxing place to play. Even if you play badly the surroundings are so beautiful. Hopefully get back there with the forum again. ?

Not very many - I never do. In UK none apart from my own as I can’t justify the time and paying to play other courses when I pay a kings ransom for my own subs. Would love to play more - maybe in a year or two time...

But I was fortunate to play a few times on our travels with borrowed clubs of various vintage...?

Balmacewan - Otago Golf Club Dunedin
Anglesea - Victoria
Dunkeld - Victoria
Apollo Bay - Victoria
Port Fairy - Victoria
Tewantin-Noosa - Queensland

My favourite was Port Fairy - a stunning links course. Anglesea was great fun playing surrounded by kangaroos. Dunkeld was incredible experience playing golf in the Outback and on oil-sand greens, Apollo Bay for an incredible location on a headland overlooking a fabulous surf bay. Balmacewan and Tewantin-Noosa were beautiful 18 hole courses in stunning settings.

So I actually played more courses this year than I have for maybe 25yrs - I was so very fortunate to have been travelling as we did and that my wife was happy for me to play and to wander round with me. Mind you the walks were as fascinating and beautiful just in themselves. So grateful.

I've got that penciled in for next season already.

That plus Fortrose & Rosemarkie and Moray Old over a weekend in May 2020.

Fortrose & Rosemarkie is on my to play list, hopefully for next year, after watching Adventures in Golf.

This year I haven't played too many different/ new courses:

Princes (all 3 loops)
Old Course (2nd time)
Castle Course
Scotscraig
PGA National Stadium
PGA National Tour

West Hill due this week
Oxfordshire on 27th

My favourite of the list was by far the Castle Course, the views up there are stunning, and a birdie on the 17th was just cherry on the cake.

Played a few nice courses this year, not really traveled as much as previous years but have enjoyed some opens and Maxi-tour events (a pro who runs opens each week basically).

The one I walked off most surprised with was Prestbury. I knew it was good, but I didnt realise how good it was. The other course that jumped out at me was Huddersfield. Both just great courses, nice members clubs and warm welcomes.

Fortrose & Rosemarkie I should play next year as it is all of 2mins drive from my cousin's house :) And we will be visiting next year. Also my brother has a house in Islay (and an Ileach wife) so should get to play Machrie next year (he has a locals membership...). I must also encourage him to renew his lapsed membership of Murcar (he lives in Aberdeen)...nice track.

More interesting listing new courses than every round I've had over 12 months.... so new courses for me this year:

Aldeburgh
Swinley Forest
Berkshire Blue
Berkshire Red
Prince's - played it a few times before but given all the renovation work (especially the Himalayas 9) it felt a new experience.
Oh, and the Addington, but I'm trying to forget that as it was dreadfully disappointing.

I aim for quality over quantity. All tick that box (apart from the Addington), it's close but I think my favourite new course was the Berkshire Red.

If Heineken made wife's, they made mine and my wife made this list possible :-

Woodhall Spa – Hotchkin.......Woburn – Marquees & Dukes

Waterville.............................Trump Ireland/Doonbeg
Tralee..................................The European Club
Tandridge.............................St Georges Hill
Shrewsbury Club...................Sherwood Forest
Saunton – East & West..........Royal Troon
Royal St Davids.....................Royal Porthcrawl
Royal Birkdale.......................Prestwick
Painswick..............................Notts
Naughton Downs...................Muirfield
Mount Juliet..........................Moortown

Hankley Common.................Gullane No1
Ganton.................................Formby
Conwy..................................Cleeve Hill
Centurion.............................Burnham-on-Crouch
Burnham & Berrow................Beaufort
Beau Desert..........................Ballyheigue Castle

Top of the highlights, was Burnham-on-Crouch after about 15 years break from playing as a member, I returned to play on a golf day and finding the club is still one of the friendliest places I have ever been.

Others in 2nd place tied were, Tralee, Saunton, Beau, Mile End, RSD and Ganton. Just love those places.

Nice list. I'm intrigued, how did your wife make this possible?

Most of them were played on holiday days, with her permission.

Still living the dream with golf due the wife starting playing a few years ago.:D

snip

Finally delighted to become a member of a "proper" golf club again. It's been a brilliant move for me, couldn't be happier.

Have you left DD, thought you liked the course ? Where did you join ?
