Played today in the milling rain but enjoyed my round.....A 14 hole singles and finished with 27 points on a very wet course with strong winds....

Iv played through the whole of winter and iv been observing the changes that have been taking place throughout the last 6 months....

This morning i came across some huge holes (dug with a machinge) that are at least 20 feet in diameter and at least 10-12 feet deep and there alonside alot of holes...

Is it possible that there putting fairly mature trees into these?

Our place has a nasty habit of growing there own trees and one month you could play a hole that is unchanged only to play the following month with lines of trees narrowing fairways....Its still a relatively young course only 14 years old so its a work in progress but i think that this year is going to be an interest one as regards my course management.

Are there any headstones propped up in the car park? ;)

:D :D :D :D :D

No DB,
But these things are big enough to loose a small car in. :D

Some of them are where there used to be bunkers....As the sand for these bunkers is pretty expensive and with our climate doesnt exactly stay inside them with the water run off on the course im thinking are they putting tree's in the to guard the greens....

It would make slight sense as there would be less maintainence with the trees an it would make the holes as difficult if not more difficult than having the bunkers there.

Did you not ask in the bar or the pro shop...?
They were closed early on the way in Sam....
it was very wet and windy today here and there were heaps of people crying off over the weather.

Not sure they will be mature trees right by the green as the canopy would potentially shade the green too much and cause some growth issues. Maybe they are redoing the bunkers and want to put some decent drainage into them. The only way you'll know for sure is to ask
