Ive generally had a great summer's golf, played well and generally well under my H/Cap. Down from 12.3 to 11.1.
Best round of the year was my 72 (+3) in social golf, and lost count of the number of +1/2 gross over a quick 12 holes or similar.
Take tonight for instance, very windy 9 holes, -2 gross after 5, + 1 after 9.

So, just how do you transfer that to Medal play ??? Do some go out and rip it from the 1st , others play conservatively for the 1st 2/3 holes, or should we always play to guard against the double's, whilst never risking the birdies ?

Just how do you approach those 'Card in your hand' rounds ??

I know the feeling, I used to get wound up in comps years ago and it didnt do me any good so I practiced and practiced and practiced, it sorted me out but I wasnt enjoying it as much so I just said sod it! if it come sit comes, now when i enter comps I dont give a stuff and I find it works just as often as it fails but with lots of pleasure.lol

It is hard, because it is not just a mental thing, the course is set up way harder too. This alone probably makes it 4 shots harder.

I'm having a slightly different problem I can't transfer range form into either a medal or a social game. I've tried focussing hard on my shots and then relaxing in between and I've tried the devil may care attitude of playing and not worrying about it. Neither have really worked
