Been dead excited this morning waiting for yesterday's scores to come through on the club website tinternet. Anyway Tashyboy smashed it for twenty points and won div three for the 11th or 12 th time this year. Yes I know I am a machine playing off below 20, 19.8 for the first time ever. Can feel the pressure already.
Anyway whilst looking at the two guys that finished above me
( I was third overall). One won div 1 with 21 pts, one won div two with 20 pts, and the runner up behind in div 3 me had 20 pts. They all that morning had a continuous review increase. And looking at there previous Hcap, before they teed off where they had 1 shot given back to them, they are more or less where they were before they teed off. How ironic is that. For ten previous rounds they had some half decent and shocking rounds to get cut 1 shot, then went out and played a blinder. The guy who won Div one must be gutted coz he had 2 pars, 3 birdies and 4 bogies.
looks like to me the CRI is doing the job it was intended to do and levelling the field a bit. Even if it only gives you the one shot.

Effectively it gives you 1.7 shots for each 7 round streak (of failing to make buffer). Which is quiet a lot.
If more is needed then the AR can deliver - and should - the more players correctly handicapped the better the various competition handicap elements work for the whole field.

Daft question Duncan I know but how many rounds are needed to be considered on the AR?

Purely selfish question as I started the season really well winning 2 of the first 3 comps played with a reduction from 13.5 to 11.8, but I was injured soon after.

I'm now getting to the point where I can, just about play 18 holes pain free, but wondered regarding the above.

Answer to the first is none - - but...Basically the system will run a report and I believe that requires 4 scores to include you. After that it's more manual for the HC sec and team, but we now (last few years) individually review everyone for this reason.

As to you - this isn't an AR function and the handicap sec should consider such cases on merit ie nature of the injury and relationship to playing and scoring. Some injuries will basically prevent playing for a period but the player will be able to get on with it when they return ie any performance loss form lay off will reverse with play pretty quickly. Others can deliver long term capability issues. The former don't make as much sense to provide temporary increases as many think!
