CONGU Club Handicaps

Agreed, but if someone came to me and said he was at another club and his handicap was Y even if it was a club handicap I personally wouldn't insist he completed another 3 cards in the same way as you wouldn't make someone with a CONGU handicap resubmit 3 cards.

Agree - hence being on the system would allow him to provide proof of HC

That is very interesting. I wonder if CONGU have thought this one through. My understanding is that, if a player with an existing CONGU Handicap takes up an offer of a Club Handicap, he loses his status as CONGU handicap holder and therefore his CDH number.
I thought the CDH system was in place so that other clubs could track a player and see their handicap so on the plus side you could see exactly what handicap someone has.

But I'm suggesting that if someone is a member of two clubs then perhaps the away/2nd club accept the club handicap issued by the 1st/home club avoiding the person having two handicaps.

But again that defeats the whole purpose of having a club HC that is only valid at that club due to the persons scores on that course.

Basically you are treating it like a normal congu HC.

If he can play to say 30 on one course and 34 on the other then what's the point in giving him a 30 on both or 34 on both.

I personnaly cannot see any difference in that than a CONGU handicap person who is a member of 2 clubs and shoots 18 on his home course and 20 on his away course. Because he is linked on the system he gets the up and down adjustments when playing in qualifiers and is wouldn't surprise me (but I have no proof) that if you linked the club handicap person the same way and issued a CDH No the same thing would happen.

If CONGU had stuck to their original plan (which I presume couldn't get through the AGM) and make it a max CONGU handicap of 36 for males this scenario wouldn't occur.

But Congu didn't go that way - they went the way of the Club specfic HC over 28 so the player will be able to have two different HCs without CDH number at two different clubs until one HC reaches 28

Here’s one for the handicap gurus to mull over.
A novice player (male) joins a club and submits 3 cards for handicap. The cards do not justify the maximum handicap of 28 for a CONGU Handicap so the club awards him a CONGU Club Handicap of 36. He then decides he would also like to be a member of a second club. Since his CONGU Club Handicap can only be used at his first club, he submits 3 cards at his second club, again fails to justify 28 and is awarded a CONGU Club Handicap of 32.
We know that a player can only have one CONGU Handicap which is administered by his Home Club and is portable for competition play at any other club. Will the player be allowed to have two different CONGU Club Handicaps so that he can play in competitions at both clubs and try at both clubs to reduce his handicap(s) to the CONGU Handicap level?

When the player is assigned a Club Handicap by his home club he gets a CDH ID.
He can register that as an away player at his other club and the system will maintain his handicap record as per a normal CONGU handicap.

If a player moves from CONGU to Club, his CDH ID is maintained. As it is if he drops from Club to CONGU.

You don't have to assign a CDH number when a club HC is raised - the CDH number can be raised once the player gets to 28 HC and an official Congu HC

Appreciate the software may not force it but why wouldn't you allocate a CDH to a new player? Surely the idea is that Club Handicaps are administered in the same way as normal handicaps so why wouldn't a player have his Club handicap recorded in the CDH and change along the lines Rulefan outlined above? Having different club handicaps at different clubs doesn't seem logical.....makes much more sense to manage on a Home Club and AWAY basis as above. All this is a pretty rare scenario though I'd have thought.

It's rare because the persons HC is above the Congu Official HC of 28

The person will be allocated a Club HC which is only valid at that club So won't be linked to any other HC. Once the person gains a Congu HC then it becomes linked at Away clubs

What is your take then on a club player where your club is the away club and during the annual review his home club has changed his handicap on the system to 29 (on his agreement) which in turn will automatically change his handicap on the CDH database and send you notifications of his change of handicap. How is your club going to manage this.

We are talking about exsisting players here yes ?

The system hasn't changed. From what I understand the Club HC is only valid at the club where it has gone to above 28

His home or away club then can either increase manually when the CDH comes through to a club HC or keep it as 28. It was a question I asked early on to them
