Here’s one for the handicap gurus to mull over.
A novice player (male) joins a club and submits 3 cards for handicap. The cards do not justify the maximum handicap of 28 for a CONGU Handicap so the club awards him a CONGU Club Handicap of 36. He then decides he would also like to be a member of a second club. Since his CONGU Club Handicap can only be used at his first club, he submits 3 cards at his second club, again fails to justify 28 and is awarded a CONGU Club Handicap of 32.
We know that a player can only have one CONGU Handicap which is administered by his Home Club and is portable for competition play at any other club. Will the player be allowed to have two different CONGU Club Handicaps so that he can play in competitions at both clubs and try at both clubs to reduce his handicap(s) to the CONGU Handicap level?

I would expect as it would be a very rare case that his first gained HC will be able to be used at the AWAY club. The HC will also be registered on CDH and he will have only one CDH so will only be allowed to have one HC.

If you are a member of more than one club, you have to nominate one as your home club, who will control your handicap.

Umm yes that is known but doesn't answer the question posed.

I believe it would also apply to a club handicap, but in open competitions etc, the golfer would have to play off 28.

Yes Delc again that doesn't answer the question - you are just making known statements

My personal take is that rosecott has used the initials CONGU Club Handicap and therefor I would adopt the same principles as for a CONGU Handicap using the nominated home club principle and giving the member one CDH No.

My understanding is that a CDH number would not be given as it is not a CONGU handicap - beyond 28 it cannot be.

Phil, you might think it would be rare, but I have exactly that situation.

So are they on the system at either club with no CDH number ?

If that's the case then surely each HC is treated seperately until they gain a 28 HC and get a CDH number ?

That would be my thinking. The situation is still in the theoretical stage as we have only this week decided to adopt the Club Handicap system but I have two players who will be in this situation if they decide to accept a Club Handicap. They already have a 28 handicap and a CDH number but those, I assume, will disappear if they opt for a Club Handicap.

I think that's how I would approach it - as soon as the player gets 28 then a CDH is given and that becomes official CONGU HC

But certainly got me thinking in regards some juniors at the club

I have just reallocated a couple in our club with club HC and they still retained their CDH No.

Not to sure what the benefit of that would be, my thoughts would be to get a member on the system with a CDH No then as hopefully natural progression occurs they are up and running.

So he can keep a track of his club HC

Can't give him a CDH number if he has two club HC

That is very interesting. I wonder if CONGU have thought this one through. My understanding is that, if a player with an existing CONGU Handicap takes up an offer of a Club Handicap, he loses his status as CONGU handicap holder and therefore his CDH number.
