Congratulations Wigan

Bluewolf couldn't go to the game as I had to work tonight..:(.. My Missus and my eldest lad went in my place and had a rare old time. I decided that I couldn't bare to watch it on TV so I played in a comp at Slaley Hall instead. I listened to the game on my way back to Lancashire. How I didn't crash the car when Watson scored that goal is a mystery. I'm going to watch the game later when I get home. I might even sink a few beers while I'm watching it..

To the person who wants us to go down and be replaced by a "Bigger Club". If those "Bigger Clubs" win enough matches in the Championship, they'll come up. It's simple really. We currently belong in the Premiership because we won enough points. I have asked around and no one appears to win more points based on crowd average.

Oh, and if i'm 100% honest, I wouldn't swap todays result for 2 wins this coming week. What this result means to us Wigan fans is immeasurable. My lad will never ever forget today. To us, this is bigger than Liverpools champions league/European Cup victories. It's bigger than Arsenals unbeaten season. It's the greatest thing thats happened to my "little" club. I would argue that it's the biggest thing to happen in football recently for ALL fans of "little" clubs. We've proven that money can't buy you everything.

Oh (2), I'm also really. really pleased for Dave Whelan. The guy is just a legend. What he's done for my club is epic and he deserves every plaudit he receives...

The bit in bold times a million.
Our mob have had chances and blown it, loads of whites would rather be in prem ( for the money, stoopid :ooo:), than win a cup and go down.
Not me.
Don't mind admitting I'm hugely jealous, the way football is going, not many teams are going to get a chance at this.
Still can't believe you couldn't get off work.
Enjoy (god, that hurt :D)

101% with you Bluewolf and your sentiments on trophies over league status.

Speaking as an original Bluenose (i.e.Birmingham City) I know how you feel.Would have loved us to have avoided relegation 2 years ago but not at the expense of our League Cup win over the Gooners.

Good luck in those last two league games but if you don't succeed; Hey! the Championship is not that bad and no one can take away your memories of yesterday.

Abide with me, a moving poignant song when sung by football supporters before the FA cup final.

Abide with me, a screeching racket when mauled by some opera singers who seem to be there just to prove their vocal range. Yes, you can cover 6 octaves, well done, now sod off please.

Well done FA. Along with the recent revelations about many TV personalities from my youth, getting opera singers to maul Abide with Me and moving the kick off to just another Saturday when other games are being played at 5.15, you are doing your best to ruin all my happy childhood memories. What next, am I going to find out that Zammo from Grange Hill now sells keys for a living????

Oh and well done Wigan. And Man City, shame on you for not treating the game with the respect it deserves (or did deserve I suppose before the FA did their best to belittle it) and appearing not to give a toss.

Great result for Wigan and they were good for it. Delighted for the fan too as many fans of smaller teams really embrace these finals. Colleague at work is a St Mirren season ticket holder and he is still ranting and raving about their cup win.

As much as I'd like Wigan to stay up I fancy it's a challenge too much this time.
