A club that tries to play attractive football against the odds and with relatively little cash, a manager who believes in playing the right way and a chairman who backs his manager. Delighted for them. Enjoy your day and your next 2 cup finals against Arsenal & Villa, hope to see you in the top flight next season.

Yep will go along with that. Needed Villa to win today to ensure their safety so when Wigan play them there is nowt at stake for Villa. Best team won today as well which is even more shocking. City look a very poor side for the money spent on them.

Superb result and well deserved.

A team full of top quality players out played, a top manager out thought tactically.

Well done Martinez more trophies than Moyes ;)

Yes congrats to Wigan; particular praise for their defending which is not usually their strong suit, Restricted Man City to very few clear sights of goal,
Wigan were also clearly the better side in an attacking sense.
However, overall it was a pretty dull game although you wouldn't have thought so if you listened to the commentary on ESPN.

"Gripping!"

Are they having a laugh.

Ere we go again:rofl: I was gonna say that but thought I will leave it to someone else this time

let's keep this thread to congratulating Wigan and Martinez but its true and he's done it on half of Moyes's budget ;)

Not saying it is not true it is and it only took him a few years to do it not 11:) Like Martinez as I think he is a great bloke as well and love to see an underdog win especially when it is against the corporate clubs

Pleased for Wigan and Martinez, not a classic but tense nonetheless. ManC just didn't seem to be there.
Anti -Moyes comments are daft, I bet Wigan and Martinez would give up that FA Cup for premiership safety in a second, Moyes has his team in 6th, Martinez's are 18th with an away game to champions league chasing Arsenal coming up, will take a miracle to avoid the drop this time and there's bound to be a hangover from the emotions of today.
Personally would like to see some bigger teams back up that can generate revenue from ticket sales and not just rely on tv money so I won't be sorry if Wigan go down, they've had a good run.

This is what makes the FA cup so compelling. A budget team beating a big bucks international team on the big stage. Well done Wigan and good luck in the Prem.

Fantastic from Wigan played good football, defended well and got it tactically spot on.

Also how good a talent has Martinez discovered in Callum McMannaman that boys got a big future.

Bet bluewolf, had a great day out :whoo:

Bluewolf couldn't go to the game as I had to work tonight..:(.. My Missus and my eldest lad went in my place and had a rare old time. I decided that I couldn't bare to watch it on TV so I played in a comp at Slaley Hall instead. I listened to the game on my way back to Lancashire. How I didn't crash the car when Watson scored that goal is a mystery. I'm going to watch the game later when I get home. I might even sink a few beers while I'm watching it..

To the person who wants us to go down and be replaced by a "Bigger Club". If those "Bigger Clubs" win enough matches in the Championship, they'll come up. It's simple really. We currently belong in the Premiership because we won enough points. I have asked around and no one appears to win more points based on crowd average.

Oh, and if i'm 100% honest, I wouldn't swap todays result for 2 wins this coming week. What this result means to us Wigan fans is immeasurable. My lad will never ever forget today. To us, this is bigger than Liverpools champions league/European Cup victories. It's bigger than Arsenals unbeaten season. It's the greatest thing thats happened to my "little" club. I would argue that it's the biggest thing to happen in football recently for ALL fans of "little" clubs. We've proven that money can't buy you everything.

Oh (2), I'm also really. really pleased for Dave Whelan. The guy is just a legend. What he's done for my club is epic and he deserves every plaudit he receives...

As a fellow fan of a so called diddy team I'm with you on this, when we (Dunfermline Athletic) were relegated in 2007 with still the Scottish cup final to come I would have given anything to win the cup and that includes the place in the Premier league, days like that live long in the memory, the chance for promotion back will come around again sometime but cup final appearances for smaller clubs are very few and far between. Absolutely gutted for you that you missed it but as you say, that day will live with your son forever and that's priceless

Congratulations on your teams success and best wishes in the next week.....go have a beer and bask in the glory

Dan - made up for you, nice to see your old school (trophies above money).

Sorry that you weren't there, glad the family were. Now the Wimbledon victory will have comapany, I love the underdogs winning (unless it's us).
