Congratulations to Ian for winning the Accenture Matchplay.
Both players did extremely well, and it's a good day for British golf.
Poulter is a determined individual and likes to show it.
We need more players like Ian who can shrug off that typical English reserve, and not be ashamed to show confidence (not arrogance).
Congratulations!

He's quite a likeable character I think nowadays. Wears his heart on his sleeve, no shrinking violet, which provides entertainment for the fans. If everyone was like Retief Goosen golf would be a duller sport to follow.
Clothes have been toned down a lot since the Union Jack/Stars and stripes trousers etc which is good. Finally has developed a game good enough to beat anyone on his day.
He took some quite big scalps in winning the WGC. Played well when Kaymer pipped him in the middle east recently, won in Singapore end of last year - all going well for him.
Like that he came through the pro ranks the traditional way (5 handicap at age 17), rather than the US collegiate system like Donald and Casey.
Hope he does well this year, has as good a shot at the majors as anyone.

Fair play he played some super golf and its good to see him coming out on top..

An around 21st century golfer not only with his fashion but his work on twitter and the time he has for fan's.. Also heard last night on the commentary that this little book he had all his notes in etc is auctioned off and the money goes to charity. I would say it would make a intresting bit of reading.

Top Bloke and hopefully he will win a few more this year..

EDIT: Did anyone back him to win?? 33/1 i heard the book maker was giving him..

I don't think Poulter is an arrogant p****, as many would have it. I think he actually has a bit of an inferiority complex as someone, unlike Donald, Casey, Rose etc, who did not have a glittering amateur career, and has had to work himself up in the game. He may compensate for that with an apparent show of confidence.

EDIT: Did anyone back him to win?? 33/1 i heard the book maker was giving him..

I did but only got 28/1 from WillHill, think a lot of people backed him so the odds dropped. Still £10 well spent! :D

Doubt we'll get 28/1 on him for a while, bit of a form horse at the moment is Poulter.

I had a few quid each way on him so happy about that, by the time tiger comes back he may be able to call him No.2 without it being a joke if he has a good run between now and the masters could get that high, not sure if he has the game to win a major still comes out with the odd shocker of a shot that would be punshied really badly on a major course that he can get away with in a regular tourney.

I missed a lot of it yesterday, but saw him give Sergio a putting lesson the day before.

He's as good a holer out as i've seen for a while, so if they drop in a major, he has every chance....

Great win for Poulter.Liked the guy ever since he hit a couple off the socket at a Major but still managed a decent finished. His Ryder Cup performance has helped him move up to the next level, now a genuine contender to be called the 2nd best player in the world.

Fair play to Poulter, he was the best that week easily. As much as dislike the fella, he has done it the hard way - turning pro with a handicap of four then working in the pro shop. He is starting to be VERY good.

Typically, he always does something to piss me off. Pulling faces behind the referee's back (against Sergio) over a complex decision was utterly disrespectful. Tit!

backed him with my final £3 that I had in my Paddypower account so £102 return...had earmarked it for a new Cobra 3 wood until my exhaust went yesterday so sadly it has went toward that!

Better than nowt though! ;)

A lot of people are having a go at his attitude but I think Garcia's was even worse yesterday. He clearly didn't want to be out there and played like a spoilt kid trying to lose as quickly as he could. Very disappointing

Homer I would have been the same as Garcia..who wants to play for the 2nd best losers spot? 3 and 4th place games are a total joke in every sport.

I agree.

I have to agree as well. I think no matter what level you play sport at to be motivated for the 3rd/4th play off is really difficult and I think it would only be natural to want to get off the course as quick as possible.
