Competition fees

After every competition where an entry fee is applied we display on our notice board a full breakdown of monies taken, the prize money issued (including two's) to your Pro account and a variable amount that's left over that goes towards the end of season presentation night, trophies, medals etc, we have full transparency which I think is excellent.

Quick question, at your club how are competition fees / winnings split? Does your club charge take a cut of the entry fees?

Reason I'm asking is I won my first comp last week and with 63 people entering at £3 each (£189) my share as nett winner was £60 with best scratch and second also paid, we have since been told that the club takes 1/3 or entry fees and has done for about a year, none of my PP's were arware of this, I also can't find any communication on this...

Finally, it appears the Sat / Sun monthly medals etc. Are £3 entry with the above contribution and the midweek senior and ladies comps are £2 with no cut to the club which to be honest is annoying me further!

As others have said, it depends on the type of club. Some Members clubs may pay out the full comp income in prizes and some, together with proprietary and municipal clubs, will retain a percentage for expenses such as trophies, handicapping software and many other items. For proprietary and municipal clubs, competition revenue may well be their only source of income.

I would, however, be questioning the reason behind the absence of contribution from the Seniors and Ladies competitions. I would also be looking at the annual accounts.

I pay £5 for comp, twos and NTP. I'm don't know what % of the pot gets divvied out as I usually NR in comps.

I have won £6.51 this year though, and bogeyed the 1st which to date is my best score on that hole.
