Common sense, or poofters shot????

I have to say it seemed like an intelligent shot for you and so thought there must be some mistake. I know what you mean though abotu feeling as though you've almost given an opportunity away. I do think a smoother 7 iron would have been the ideal shot and as long as you hit the dancefloor and had the same result you wouldn't have felt as bad.

At the end of the day you must be swinging with some confidence to be prepared to take these shots on. I'd take the par and move on. Keep the scorebaord ticking

You made a par where's the problem?

It ain't about what club you hit, it's about how many times you hit it. I hit 5i from 156 last week, I'd normally hit 7 from there but it was into the wind, I hit it 15ft past the pin and made par, what club I hit irrelevent.

The original post was intended to question my lack of confidence in hitting the shot I should have done, not over my club selection on account of the weather

:D

Fair enough but my point still stands, it doesn't matter what club you hit. Was it really lack of confidence or was it that you were thinking clearly enough to recognise what you needed to do to make par. Would you have felt better going with a shorter club, coming up short and making bogey having hit the shot you should have done?

At the end of the day you picked the club and made the swing that got it onto the green That is all you can really ask isn't it. OK it would be great to stick it to a few feet away and make the putt but most of us would settle for a green in regulation, two putts (no dramas) and move on.

I sometimes wonder if you are wandering into my twilight world and starting to worry about it all too much

Good job it wasnt 160 or you wouldnt have had a club to reach that far ;)

Man up Smiffy and start playing mans golf not a watered down wimmins version :D

Should ???

Wadyamean 'should' ??

'On a good day when I'm hitting my irons sweetly I'd have taken an 8i and had an 80% chance it would have been a good enough strike to land close' sort of 'should'.

Or a

'I'm a handicap golfer, so I have days were my striking is a bit inconsistant, so being a proper, thinking golfer, I played the % shot that gave me a birdie effort' sort of 'should' ?

For once, I think you got the course management right. You only feel strange coz you're not used to it.

agree with everyone else who's said it's all about the score.

Play the shot you know you can play, not the one you think you ought to be able to play.

Pings not such a good idea now?

Love 'em.
But the way I'm swinging at the moment I could be all dressed in pink, wearing a lilac visor which makes the top of my bonce go bright red when the suns out, gaming a set of Titleist Clubs. wearing a pair of "Minnie Mouse" Footjoys and still play like a knob.
Surely you can picture it?

Common sense shot in my book smiffy, although if you would've duffed it then it would've defo been a poofters shot.

But we shot the same score, first game back from injury for me, unsure of my swing, unsure if I was going to cripple myself. You, coming off regular play, shot 32 points.

Only one of us played like a knob. Only one of us dressed like a knob. I know which one I was.
