Come on Europe!!

THe proble you'll have is the PGA calls the shots to a large degree and so it has to fit around their schedule. You wouldn't want a diluted RC with those not playing the Fed Ex making up the numbers. I think they need to get a week set in stone like they do for most events, even in the US (Superbowl Sunday etc) and build the tour events and play-offs around that date

Just wait 'til the river bursts it's banks at high tide !

Remember Valdarama in the late 90s (97 ?) didn't they have serious problems with wet weather ?

Ach well, could be worse, could be in the office working ;)

Ach well, could be worse, could be in the office working ;)

cruel, cruel, man. I don't need to be reminded of that :(
still it's little more than drizzle here so I might man up and go play a few this afternoon if there's nothing happening.

everything's conspiring - got the mp4 on - it's playing 'Let it Rain' - not funny!

I am playing this afternoon, unless it is rain of biblical proportions, with the odd plague of frogs thrown in. Apparently, this will be the case, so I guess I'll be watching the rain on the telly from the bar.

If it's a Monday finish millions of viewers will miss the climax of this great event and I can't belive they'll get anywhere near the same crowds as they would on Sunday.

How about if they played just 2 foursomes today with the guys who aren't in the fourballs. They could have all six matches out together (assuming it does clear up later). The RC has had different formats over the years so would it matter to play for 2 fewer points this year if it meant they could finish Sunday?

Agree that RC should be earlier and set in stone and PGA tours should work round it. It's a money spinner for both tours as well as being one of the great sports events so why risk it for a meaningless end of season bash?

Ewan Murray has just said Monday RC will be a bonus. Well it will for him, he'll be there. I'll be in the office!

Just heard that US waterproof trews didn't perform (wonder what brand they were?) and US team just bought a load of Proquips from the merchandise tent! Mind you their suits where hideous. Even Butch said so!

from the BBC 'live' leaderboard:
"According to European Tour officials, there are no ticket arrangements in place for play on Monday. Let's just see what happens. If there is an overspill into Monday, then arrangements will be made then."

I think they should do as Wimbledon has in the past - freebie

oh, and the announcement is delayed till 1,00

and, (love this!) the US team has had to buy 24 pairs of waterproof trousers from the pro-shop 'cos theirs don't work!

didn't we always say they don't know what rain is!

Ok, so conditions are poor. They were at the Hever open that I played in with JustOne, Leftie and Smiffy. In fact, I'd say we had it worse, as there were no squeegees on the greens. We were still round in 4 1/2 hours. The fairways were almost completely flooded, so we had the same problems these guys have. 7 hours is still totally outrageous for a game of golf. If this is viewed as ok, it will only get worse over time.

Surely you can't think that is in any way comparable Murph??

I'm sure their team mates would be chuffed if they "got on with it" and shot 80+ on the way to a heavy defeat. 4balls are slow anyway, add some rain and that adds time with drying and redrying grips etc. Throw in preferred lies for some extra time and top it off with casual water and it's inevitable that it'll take an age.

I think you'll also see that I was correct about the course holding up against the water!! "Pick & place at worst" I said! Well they have picked it up and placed it in their pocket.................I thankyou! :o :D

It might not be comparable, but come on, 7 hours, that's a flip of a long time to be out in the rain. At that rate they won't be finished til next Thursday. 26 minutes to play one hole? What are they doing that can possibly take so long. You are still only allowed 60s to play the shot, so are they walking very slowly?

Apparently theie kit supplier is Canali, that well known water proof suit manufacturer.

they've just announced that they've changed the format to avoid having to play Monday.
Still 28 matches but now everyone plays in every session, so no leeway for Monty.
they were a bit quick with the detail but it seems that there are more foursomes, still got the 12 singles.
