Coltart calls it a day.......Huggan interview.

Sky, he is a MUST. Get him signed up, ditch that current bunch of clowns and start a fresh with Sarah and Andy. Butch can also stay.

Cheers for that Tommo, was a good read.

He is good on Sky from what I've seen, streets ahead of some idiots they get on there. Hopefully he can make a go of that.

Really like him on Sky - hopefully we will now see more of him.

My son was paired with him in Austrian Open, apparently he's a very nice chap on the course!

Thanks for the link. Funny how an experienced pro can still struggle and that the demons in the head can make a good layer feel so vulnerable in an event. I have to say I'm not a fan of his on Sky but I'm glad he's found a career path that keeps him involved with the sport and who knows maybe with a bit of regular viewing I might warm to the guy.

Thanks for that Tommo, and as you say , an interesting read.

I quite like him on Sky and think it's good to have someone just off the Tour with fresh and up to date opinions and comments.
A bit like Gary Neville on Football.

That was all going so well until you mentioned the most boring tw*t in the world of football!

Fascinating read that.

In one interview, he probably shares more insight into the pro game than 100 "interviews" with tour guys who think telling you what club they hit on each hole is interesting.

It seems contradictory to say that quitting is brave, but in his case, I think it shows courage and real self-awareness. Must have been a gut-wrenching decision to quite at an age when other players have really got going... look at the way Vijay and Mark O'Meara blossomed in their 40s.

Couple of quotes that really stand out....

"The new technology in golf has never been a help to me. I just don’t create enough clubhead speed to take advantage of the big-headed drivers and the new balls."

and...

"Length is everything. The ability to shape shots and hit different types of shots isn’t nearly as important as it once was. None of which suited me"

It's a shame that the game is developing in a way that is making it harder for this type of player to be successful...

On the bright side, the tour's loss is viewers' gain. look forward to hearing more from him in commentary. He's proved he has what it takes. Good luck to you Andrew.

If they held a tour event at Boat of Garten then he'd have a shout!
