Only done it once, Full arm swing and aim at the ground with my Ping driver after hooking into the undergrowth. The head went one way, the shaft the other. The laughter of my fellow group was loud and humiliating.
Won't ever do it again, that was a costly mistake.:)

As a young man, in a summer golf tournament I hit three balls in a small lake at a par 3 hole. Then hurled my 7 iron in afterwards. Then heard a stern voice behind me, it was my dad in the next flight: "Now, go and get that iron." I waded through the lake and found it. Never threw a club again.
Similar, turned around and threw my driver into the woods. Took ages to find it so never done it again!

Playing one Saturday morning we once found two, or maybe even three, clubs in the same tree on our 14th 😄

Personally, I've "thrown" a wedge out of a bunker towards my bag after knifing it right through the green. I say "thrown" because it was only 2 or three yards and it was so half-hearted because I knew deep down I shouldn't be doing it and I'm not good enough to get that angry!

Once . Last year when I was playing bad and hooked another drive . Threw the club into the bush. My mate laughed as he never seen me throw a club (prob because it was the first time lol)

I do however have a water bottle I use for golf that's got a massive dent in it from my pitching wedge. One of the worst rounds I've played , last hole I got really angry and just hit my bag with my club. It dented my bottle lol I carry it still as a reminder

Over the years - yes - too many times…but not that many times in any one year…once or maybe twice I guess. And I always apologise to playing companions, it’s just not necessary.

Many years ago one of my buddies, recently having picked up the game, had a hissy fit and flung a club quite vigorously. It finished up caught in the upper branches of a nearby tree, and he really struggled get it down. Did we disapprove or did we roar with laughter…you can guess…and you’d most probably be right.

One of our scratch team at my old club set a record by kicking his wedge 110 yards down the fairway. Multiple kicks mind you but he kept at it and only picked it up when he got to the edge of the river short of the green.

Not as an adult......perhaps a few half hearted tries as a 12 year old.

My old playing partner was a bit different.
We were laying a friendly match v two back markers of another local club.
My friend was playing in a new set of woods.
We were winning comfortably
His drives were going well but I knew he was not hitting the sweet spot.
It was not helped by the oppos saying 'lovely drive Jim' after each slightly imperfect drive.
I could sense he was about to boil at the 14th tee and he let the two guys walk on before slamming his new driver into his bag. grabbing his 6 iron and with great style throwing it sideways across the fairway..

I'm too tight to intentionally break one of my clubs but I do enjoy slamming the club back into the bag after an awful shot.

Full on club tosses are cringe. One of my mates has done a few this year.

No, although I have played golf with a lot of club throwers, all of varying ability.

There were the extremely bad-tempered ones. The good golfer who smashed both his club and his trolley. The one who simply wasn't a good enough golfer to justify his constant fits of pique.

And of course I have been around those golfers who just give the club a half-hearted twirl, really? If you're going to do it, at least mean it.

However, on two occasions I've had close encounters of the painful kind, when a wild careless fling results in everyone in the vicinity ducking for cover. No, the apology isn't accepted you ................

I must confess I've thrown a 64 degree wedge further than I could've pitched with it.
And forever it'll stay deep stored way back in a corner of my garage.
Until some other idiot wants it 🙄 lol

The best one I saw was my mate lobbed his into a bush mid round ... (Driver) Walked off.. I went to get it.. he shouted "leave it" I ignored it and walked with it in my bag for 3 holes before he calmed down and took it back lol 🤣

Once helicopter’d a 5 wood after a hooked shot. After picking up both parts of it, it never felt the same. Not done it since. That was over 20 years ago.
