So as to not overtake the Club Comp thread.

Thought I’d make this as it’s as tangent that’s being brought up.

Should Club staff receive free playing rights, subsidised memberships or discounted membership and access to club comps at the clubs that’s employ them?

Shouldn’t be given any type of club membership unless they pay for it

As for access to course

Pro etc can use the course for lessons or any pro challenges but don’t expect staff to be given free golf but can play at members guest rates

So should the pro be allowed to play the course for free outside of lessons or are you expecting him to pay as well! Would that. It be negotiated that he and his/her assistants get full playing rights!

Why is acceptable for certain age groups to have reduced fees based on age (intermediates, seniors etc) but a member of staff isn’t entitled to at least a reduced rate membership as a perk of the job ?

Our staff get playing rights as per members...but, of course they work 6-2 (Greenys) and office hours so they can only use them in quieter times.
Sometimes, this year's Captain's weekend for instance, they may be invited to play in a Club Comp but can't win the main prize.
We have a Staff vs Club match as well.
I regularly play with a couple of the Greenys early on a Saturday if they're not working..

Where able, most businesses give staff certain benefits on top of the salary, should golf clubs stand (almost) alone in not doing so

If you work for McDs you'll get free food, if you work for sky you'll get free telly and broadband etc etc

Shouldn't ppl who work at golf club get free golf (even if qty limited)

What about the captains who spend quite a bit of their own money during their time in office??

Someone is paying to be a member of the club

If a staff member wanted to be a member then they pay the same rates of membership as everyone else

Our pro is able to use the course as part of playing lessons

You haven’t answered the question merely dodged it. Let me ask again why is it ok for someone to get the same playing rights as me but pay over £300 less because they’re under 40 but at 45 I have to pay more! You’re willing to accept someone has the same playing rights for less money so why is it not ok for a member of staff to have a discount!

So your pro can use the course for playing lessons! Is he not able to have use of the course to play when he’s not teaching and needs to keep his game going!

Age related membership categories where brought in to help encourage and keep younger generations in the club

There is zero relevance with giving someone who works for you discounts

Our pro can use the course when giving lessons to members - any lessons to non members a members guest green fee must be paid

And just like our GM didn’t get free access the pro doesn’t as well

Complete relevance you're ok with the club giving discounted fees to people outside of the establishment to look good and bring in people, but not happy for them to give someone who provides a service to your club, you as a member and helps keep the place running. Seems to me there are some backwards priorities there, you should be looking after the people that keep the place running not expecting them to do and pay more than outsiders!

So your pro contact doesn't entitle him to any playing rights at your course, thats one of the worst offers i've come across and doesn't sound in the least bit welcoming.
