I'm a member at Leighton Buzzard, get the same benefits as Homer, i.e. no tee times, play when I want (read can - when HID is not working), I don't play with the same frequency as Homer, but I usually play twice a week and think it's still value for money over pay and play. The costs, taken from the club website:

All new adult members pay a joining fee which is set at £1150. This can be paid in full at the commencement of your membership or over 4 equal payments of £287.50, the first being when you actually join and the following 3 with your annual subscriptions. The annual Full Membership fee is £813.50, 7 Day Pending £767 and 5-day £718; these amounts include all County and National Golf Association Levies ( Ladies, an extra £6.15 is payable due to additional levies) and a £50 bar levy for which you get a 20% discount on all drinks purchased at the bar.

If you want to give it a try sometime, I can get you on for the guest fee.

I pay £1000. Usual members course benefits. No problems getting on, except way too many societies.

Most I have paid for a round, £160 at RCD. Worth the money too.

£813.50? WOW so precise. Couldn't they round it up or down
£810 or £820?
There must be an accountant on the committee somewhere lol
DCB. shhhhhhh dont tell everyone the prices of golf in Scotland. You'll be over-run by rich and famous from down south

Shaw Hill is £750 per year
Southport & Ainsdale was £1150 but was a top course and you got all year round golf,Course never got wet and was always in great condition.

Shaw Hill is less but its like a bog through winter and we have to play off mats Oct-March.

We all have what we can afford but its also weighing up what you get for your money.

£1000 a year for me. Supposed to be going up to £1150 but they said they would freeze it this year because of all the work going on. It is probably the best course available to me, but it is a little out of my way.
The upside is playing on a nicklaus course with free buggies, downside is paying for all other amenities ie: gym, swimming pool etc and not being able to use them as its just too far away to travel in the week (car share with a couple of members on the weekend).

Normally our fees are £600 a year with £ 200 joining fee, although there is talk of getting rid of joining fee.

This year, mine are free! I have just finished year as lady Captain so its one of the perks you get. Next year also free !- I am starting work at the club on March 1st and staff get free subs.

But normally pay monthly and that really helps. Its worth every penny, hope you find a good club

The course I'm looking at is around £770 with no joining fees so that sounds about the norm.

They split it across 10 months rather then 12 on direct debit and you don't pay in September and October - sounds slightly random?

I pay £365 a year for a muni. You also get to play a few other courses for free as part of a links scheme. I play twice a week on average so it works out at £3.50 a round.

I have to go for value as I can't afford the expensive tracks. You get what you pay for though I suppose.

£799 for this year. Full 7 day. Nice club, nice facilities and nice people. Club has just spent a small fortune on the greens and it is paying off. Quite a few new members have migrated from other courses in the area.

Steve_l - saw your sig, brought back memories. I played at Malkins Bank through the summer of 88 when I was working in Knutsford. It's a good price, but I hope it's grown up a bit since then as opposed to aging like me. Memories! :)

Greenfees £400 5-day, £575 7-day

Club £40 or £30 seniors

Greenfees go to property company, which also runs the bar/restaurant/accommodation/gym/conference centre
the club runs comps and h/caps,

it's not quite the cheapest in the area, that honour belongs to a course laid over a disused tipping site - so don't take deep divots or you might catch a brick!
