After Friday's excitement over the Mizuno fitting draw, well done to the chosen three, my fingers remain crossed for this opportunity. Any idea's when the chosen two ill be informed?

Hopefully soon! I have the day off booked just in case. After this weekend wedge play a gap wedge, and lob wedge would be very much appreciated and helpful.

Fingers crossed, good luck everyone.

Absolutely buzzing....I am one of the lucky two.:whoo::clap::whoo::clap::whoo:

Now, after my exploits in our medal at the weekend I just hope I don't make an numpty of myself!

no luck for me either really gutted as i desperatly wanted this one. good luck to the chosen two though sure you will have a great time

I am the other lucky winner extremely excited for this but also worrying incase I come down with a case of the thins! Lol

Congratulations to those picked. Just the Callaway comp left now. This checking my phone is really hitting my monthly data allowance

Well done guys. Cleveland wedges are up there with the best of them. I think they used to be the most played on tour a few years ago. Still buzzing about my Mizuno fitting.

Well done guys, I already play a bag of Cleveland 588's so didn't feel the need to enter this ... although some AD333 tour balls and a round at Studley wood would of been nice ;)

Enjoy the day!

Evening all

Just got back from the fitting and need to get my thoughts down before my sieve like qualities kick in.

First off I'd like to say a massive thanks to GM, Studley Wood Golf Club and to the Cleveland/Srixon fitter....a very insightful and interesting day.

I arrived about 30 minutes before the fitting was due to start and met Paul from GM and the other "chosen one" Rob chewing the fat in the bar. Kev the photographer then arrived and we had a nice relaxing drink and was given a breakdown on how the day would work.

We wandered over to the fitting centre/range and into a double bayed area that the Cleveland/Srixon guys had kitted out with all sorts of goodies and as I walked through the door first I was nominated to go through the process first.

Dean (the Cleveland/Srixon fitter) took my wedges away and had a look over them whilst I warmed up and then hit some shots for him whilst we talked through what kind of golfer I am....what were my good and bad points, what I was looking for etc. He then gave me a cavity backed wedge to hit and explained how a club like this would be good for a golfer of my level.... after hitting some more shots he studied my stats and told my I have the classic out to in swing of your typical golfer and that I really didn't spin the ball much at all. So he stuck a gold spinner shaft onto the CB head and let me swing away.

Almost immediately my shots straightened up and I could visibly see the ball stopping quicker on the range with the added spin. Dean explained that with my current setup (Nike VR Pro bladed PW (47), 52 GW, 56 SW and 60 LW) I really had too many wedges for me and that he'd recommend going with just a 52 and 58...... the 58 gave the exact same distances but with better dispersion than my 56.

I was then fitted with Srixon balls.... for my level Dean fitted me for the standard AD333... a distance ball with a soft feel. Now, I'd never really believed that kind of statement. How can a ball be for distance but also be soft? Well it was true to its word. The ball felt solid on the club face, but you could also "feel" it gripping. A really weird sensation for me and it felt like it was right for me.

And that was it...my fitting done, time to move aside and let Rob at it.

I went onto the range with the 58 and hit another 50 (ish) balls....ranging from full swings to chips and some real accuracy work with some flags. To say I was impressed was an understatement.... I cannot wait to get the clubs and start playing with them!

Once Rob was done we did some interviews and photographs...impact shots, product placement kind of things....was nice seeing Kev do his thing and we seemed to be quite easy subjects for them to deal with!

We then headed over for some lunch and were told we could even head out for 9 holes of the course....bonus!

The course is wide and open, although a lot of water (which I found to my detriment)...... my driving was awful but hit some nice iron shots. Just a shame the greens had been hollow tinned the day before.....but it needs to be done.

Rob was a pleasure to spend time with....a good golfer, very friendly and knowledgable.

Overall the day was a blast...everyone was very friendly but also very professional. I will forever envy those who get chosen for these GM fittings, you're in for a real treat!

Good write-up, Adam.

Just out of interest, which model did you get? Was it the CG15, 16, something else? Guessing not the 588, as you said cavity backed.

Glad you enjoyed it, and congrats on winning an awesome day out.

Pretty sure it's the 588 rtx cavity back with gold spinner shafts....

I have those wedges myself and they seem good for a mid-handicaper. Did you hit them with standard shafts as well? Would be good to hear about the differences.

EDIT - Just re-read your post and see you did try them both. Was the difference really that noticeable then?

Yeah it really was. They felt more "solid" when I swung and they visibly stopped quicker.... will be interested to see the results on course.

Adam, quality write up and another enjoyable feel good factor read, from another 'chosen one'.
