Got my lad in to golf a couple of years ago. He hadn'y played much and after getting an initial 28 h/cap, he has struggled to get anywhere near breaking 100.

2 days at Forest pines the other week seemed to whet his appetite.
Name down for Woodhall Spa next year on the way back from FP.
He then looked at the website and saw that at 28 h/cap he wouldn't be playing (i'm sure he would).

Anyhow to cut a long story short he finally broke 100 today.
He was on the 16th tee and said that he thought he had a chance, but I didn't tell hime his score.

Walking off 18 he said what did I end up with?, I asked him to guess.... 95, no.
He didn't just break 100, he broke 90. Shot 87.
I'm made up for him. He had a cracking round and played some super shots, doubling his birdie count in one round.

Woodhall here he comes and I think he has now turned a corner and will stick with the game

He will love Woodhall. Just tell him to be patient and enjoy the course, as it's one of the finest he'll ever play.

It might be a quiet village for "older" people to retire to, but I *really* miss living in Woodhall.

Congrats on his 87 too. Marvellous score!

That's not breaking 100. It's smashing it,putting it through a chipper, setting fire to it and peeing on the ashes. What a suprb way to break 3 milestones in one go!

Never had the pleasure of meeting either of you but well played the lad - cracking score. Just shows that not knowing his score probably helped, what with concentration etc.

Can he out drive you yet Vig? My son can, I just stand there in amazement sometimes, he's as skinny as a rake but bombs it out there miles. :D

Golfmmad.

Really pleased for him, I hope he can keep it up.

Very nice lad as well. Just a bit quiet like his old man ;)
The quietness gene he has is his mothers.

I think it was just the confidence boost he needed to push on. His heads tends to go down when he plays a bad shot but now he knows he can do it, hopefully he will repeat it

Glenn,An excellent score my mate,we will give our oppo's next year a real good hiding if you continue in that vein, and while we are at it,Put some weight on, you skinny little git.
