Just wrapped mine today. One to go, due tomorrow, but I'm ahead of the game.Has anyone else just realised it's somehow already the 18th tomorrow and they haven't ordered or bought a single present yet??![]()

This is my concern. We've got a click and collect slot booked on Saturday for the "non-perishables" - and we need enough to feed 13 people on Christmas Day (and 10 people for at least a couple of days for them staying over)We went out today just to do the usual weekly shop. However, we came back with way more than expected. The shops were empty.
I might have cut into the chocolate log a bit early…

Oh, thank god haha.Sorry, I meant empty of people.
It's just come round too quick. I feel like December had only just begun, then I was mad busy at work from the 8th-10th because we were going away to Scotland from 11th-15th. Back at work, busy again catching up. Now suddenly we've only got a week to go.Better get your arse in gear.
Ours is all done, Mrs M did all of it whilst I was away including my kids all except one which I’ll mention at the end. I have all her presents sorted courtesy of ordering online and not going shopping.
We’ve got a trip to Costco Saturday to pick up food, and any extras she deems we need. I’ll push the trolley, pay for it and carry the bags. Will be the same for the food shop in supermarket as no doubt I’ll be dragged along for that.
Last one I have left is a trip to London on 22nd with my oldest daughter where she will choose what she wants on our annual Dad & Daughter Christmas outing probably my favourite day of the festive period as it’s time together rather than what the gifts are.![]()
??? Ours comes to about £100 and that's everything, and the turkey does the butties in the evening which soaks up the booze.Christmas dinner is the most overrated meal imo.
I use to cook it,but it’s not worth the hassle.
And to go out for traditional is extortionate.
So Indian it is
4 of us will probably come to £100-£120 rather than £400 for turkey & veg
We've not got much. I'm doing an online shop for a few bits tonight, then tell the wife when she gets back how much she owes me for her half. Winter bugs have caused havoc with our usual organised Xmas spendHas anyone else just realised it's somehow already the 18th tomorrow and they haven't ordered or bought a single present yet??![]()
The wife’s son in law wanted to go to a restaurant for Xmas Day because that’s what his parents did for yearsI’ve just suggested to Mrs H we go for a curry. Allegedly, I’m a heathen.![]()

That's the benefit of having an adult daughter! She orders what I want for my wife on line and I send her the cash. As for the food shop I leave it to them to sort.Just wrapped mine today. One to go, due tomorrow, but I'm ahead of the game.

Was shot down in flames and imo just hasn’t that special day feel about it
I think it’s different things for different people. As we heard from other Forumites, some don’t want anything to do with Christmas. A couple of our regular haunts will be open Christmas morning and there’ll be mulled wine & mince pies. We’ll drop in as there’ll be upwards of 20 people we know well.
For us, if we go to our favourite haunts it’s friends enjoying each other’s company.
Did you actually state which yearWe normally embrace Christmas in this house but we don't even have the tree up yet as I've been purely focused on getting my old garden workshop converted in to a family games room/bar after stupidly making a drunken assertion to the wife that I'd have it completed by Christmas day... Didn't think she'd actually hold me to it!
When my daughter was 15, 22 yrs ago.She worked Christmas Day, she literally begged to work it as she was paid £7.50 an hour as a waitress.Proper ruined our Christmas Day it did. Seemed everything was on hold til I picked her up about 4.30Without being racist or anti religion, I suspect the price difference is due to the staff in the Indian restaurants not celebrating Christmas in the same way as those who would be serving in more 'traditional' (bad phrase but couldn't think of a better word!) eateries so are not having to pay staff double or triple time to serve the food.
Agreed,I can never get my head around people with young families that play golf on Christmas Day.I think it’s different things for different people. The £400 quoted was to go out for traditional dinner for 4 of us.??? Ours comes to about £100 and that's everything, and the turkey does the butties in the evening which soaks up the booze.![]()
What's the chat about? Your swing plane? Don’t miss an opportunityGetting Christmas lunch done for us by my daughter and her fiancée. Up Chesterfield for Christmas Eve, then drive down south Christmas Day morning to arrive early afternoon in time for drinks and chat prior to sitting down at 3pm. Sorted.
