It's Christmas in the Clubhouse as of this morning......
Tree, lights etc etc....
I guess if they're hosting Xmas bashes then the place needs to be decked out but...heck it's only the 18th on November...

Not normally one for an early start to Xmas but I have my new partner coming over for Xmas this year and we are having a real tree as opposed to the usual artificial one. Plus I need a full new set of tree decorations as my old ones were bought over the years with my ex and all have attachments to our time together. Next Saturday is the only Saturday that we both have free until 14th December so it is tree and decorations day.

Another perspective. The First Sunday in Advent coming soon signifying the approach of Christmas Day - so rehearsal for Christmas Evening of Carols and Readings will get underway soon; plus rehearsal for Community Choir Christmas Concert has been ongoing since mid Sept. Love Christmas - and just loving us singing One More Sleep...the perennial Leona Lewis Christmas offering.

It doesn't have to be about buying stuff - it can be about giving - giving our time; our thoughts, our gratitude and our love. That stuff is free to give.

My daughter asked if that has anything to do with Harry Potter

You just wrap your arms around her and give her a big Christmas hug and kiss…🎄👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨

Yeah but he'll have to let her go at some point (otherwise no dinner) and when he does he'll still be standing in the middle of a pile of pressies his wife got him while trying to explain how 'that hug' really is a gift
(he's gonna look as guilty as a xmas puppy in a pile of piddle)

For some church (and religion) is core to Christmas - it is indeed a lovely time.

Tree and decorations will go up no sooner than first Sunday of Advent (1st December this year) - after all, Advent is the period in which we look forward to Christmas.

And as much as I very much enjoy carols and other Christmas themed music on Classic FM, I'm not inclined to listen to the Classic FM Christmas playlist - well not until Advent. That said...Classic FM itself starts the Christmas music tomorrow - so I'll get my fill without the playlist.

We've got no little kids, bar our 40 yo son, so the sparkly fun is missing, but it's still a great time of the year. Better if it snows as well! We're off to Liverpool soon. Shopping trip and booze and food. Although after watching that thing about people buying stuff the other night it has made us re-think things.

Lovely service yesterday for 1st Sunday of Advent with the first candle being lit. And we sang some cracking hymns - especially when we (in the choir) had everyone needed to sing the full four part SATB harmonies. Tell Out, My Soul is great to sing - you can really give it laldy.

I’ll note if anyone is at all interested, yes I know most aren’t, the hymn celebrates Mary’s joy at discovering she is ‘with child’ - link to it being sung in Belfast Cathedral
