Christ on a bike! Cut by 3!!

2) Stableford points aren't a good measure of my game. I worked this out during a bounce game when I had to play off of 6, I parred holes 6 to 11, a difficult stretch of holes, and had amassed a grand total of 13 points, somehow, those 6 pars seemed like they should be worth more than that. That was it, points are pants, I even stopped writing points on my scorecard and only recorded gross scores for a while. I stopped thinking ahead to holes where I could get 3 points and just thought about parring every one of them.

3) Once I stopped thinking about points I realised there was no point thinking about handicap. I went back to the way I used to think about golf in the early days before I knew about points, handicaps and Nett scores. The whole purpose was to shoot as low as I can.

4) You have to believe you can play to it.

3 huge points here from Hawkeye.......
You can and have played to it.....
Forget about points in stableford comps because it just puts added pressure on you to try get good points off the holes you have no shots on......
Play strokes rather than points..... Total the points after the 18 have been played...... Handicap is just a no at the end of the day......You'll start to think better going round as well and not take as many risks..... Also you'll get to know the holes that you can be aggressive on so that you can try and make birdies...... Good Luck....

Oh and well done...

Thanks guys. Just a bit of a shock really.

My par is 68, I had a great round, shot 72 for 12 under my handicap. 2 x 7's on par 4's too, so scary what it could have been..

Front 9 was 4 over (7 pars, one bogey and one treble).
Back nine level (4 birdies, 3 pars one bogey and one treble).

It wasnt spectacular though, it was just plodding along consistently, although there were a few good shots in there.

4 birdies...."I was just plodding along"

Brilliant !

Keep on plodding dude.
