Local pro Chris Paisley won the South African Open yesterday. His wife caddied for him for the first time ever because his regular caddie had taken a week's holiday. Turned out to be an expensive holiday methinks.

Maybe I should take a leaf out of his book and get the missus to caddie for me. She doesn't know the first thing about golf, but it'd save me pushing the clubs around at least.
If you are already married then you have no chance. You would have a small chance when first starting out, both parties keen to impress etc, but once married you are pushing your own.

I don't expect him to be a member there now, or even for a good while, but as he is always quoted as Chris Paisley from Stocksfield I did wonder if that was his original club or just where he was brought up. Nice club but no test for a pro, I agree with you there.

I believe his dad still plays there now
Had a brief spell where there was a bit of sponsorship for him from close house too
Brother Andy, head pro at Hexham, regarded as 1 of the best coaches in the area

I like Stocksfield. Front 9 can be very tight but you can't blast your way around, I can't blast on any course, and I like that. Club house is always friendly, greens in great condition whenever I have been there. A solid club.

Not a lover of the course, find it a bit Mickey Mouse that's all
Bad call from the caddie. Maybe having the wife is a good move and it'll keep him calm and have a reassuring presence with him during a tournament

My experience with family members is that I tend to play well within myself as I aim more along the principle of not messing up badly than outdriving my playing companions!

I don't think it's a good long term solution. Might have created a nice relaxed atmosphere this time and enabled him to do well, but as soon as it's going badly they'll nitpick at each other and put strain on the relationship! Would any of us really want our partners there when we're at our worst on the course?
Has he come out and stated that he won’t pay him at all? Most people still get paid holiday, so maybe he was agreed x amount of weeks off without missing out?
Justin Thomas paid his 10% of the fedex money which technically wasn’t a tournament prize. I guess depends how close they are, but if he values him as a caddie then it could make things a little frosty if he totally leaves him out.
