Choosing a running shoe

I would definitely recommend "The Sweatshop" for advice, fitting and trial run. Check their website for nearest one to you.

I went to a shop recommended by a guy I know who runs marathons and the service was great, the knowledge far outweighed some service and advice I've had in bigger stores. The only problem is you can't really choose colour, they tend to only do shoes in one colour which sort of represents it features.

It's important to find out your arch and gait as some of the links show. I've seen studies (I think not running specific as it compared shoe effects with plimsoles) that show too much cushioning can lead to more injuries as the arch doesn't feel as much need to engage. I also remember it having changes on the impact spike and time which the force was present.

I can remember seeing a program on the golf channel with the mytpi guys and shoe fitting. Recommendations on shoes going on your arch style and stability, where if your foot was classed as unstable you'd go for a stable shoe and vice versa.
