Charming!

Weird how alot of people seem to be affronted by Woods' gobbing on the green but a few days ago when I had a go at Garcia for gobbing in the hole everyone was prepared to forgive him. What Garcia did was much worse.

Is it because Garcia is European, or something else?Double standards if you ask me.

Did Garcia not apologise for it though??

I think all spitting is disgusting and should be served with a ban.

Urinating is a natural bodily function - spitting is not. I believe the tour/s provide toilets on course for the players to cater for this fact. I'm fairly certain they don't provide spitoons.

It has no place in golf and the "new" Tiger seems remarkably like the old one, surly, miserable and in it only for the cash. Even if he isn't officially #1 anymore he is still the most iconic golfer on the planet and this just sends the wrong message out to any juniors (and adults) that it's acceptable behaviour

I must admit, I seem to be seeing more and more people spitting on the course. I don't remember seeing it when I was last playing regularly in the late 90s.

Maybe TW's behaviour is seeping through into the mainstream.

Wow! heard about this when i was at work today and just seen it. He dosent even make any attempt to do it discreetly. I'm a pretty open minded person and i must admit i have spat on the course a couple of times, only when playing with friends and when no one else is around and i try to be disscreet about it but this is just shocking.

As much as i love the guy as a golfer i am really starting to go off him as a person. Whats even more annoying is that even if anyone questioned him about it in a interview i very much doubt he would apolagise for it or even make any attempt to answer the question.

He has got the point where he thinks he is above the rules and ettiqute of golf.

No wonder his wife left him because to me it seems like he really aint that nice a person from the on course anticts of him recentley.

Did Garcia not apologise for it though??

I reckon Tiger will be doing so also, eventually.

Does no-one here ever watch baseball? That's a frikkin' spit fest!! Disgusting and should be banned.

It does happen in other sports too, football, tennis... erm, swimming :)

I agree it does happen in other sports but golf isn't the place for it. You can tell your opponents to go f**k themselves in football so would you expect it in golf? :o

It would be nice if he could change his general attitude. He said after his problems he needed to respect and aknowledge his fans more and be a better person but if you ask me he is just as bad, if not worse.

I know it must be hard for him because he is clearly still struggling with personal problems and his golf but maybe if he just tried to enjoy himself abit more and be less uptight and a moody git then maybe he might find things get better for him.

I really don't think he is enjoying his golf anymore and if he has a bad year this year it wouldn't suprise me if he takes some time away from golf again. I hope not because there is nothing better than when tiger is at the top of his game.

from tiger woods twitter @TigerWoods

The Euro Tour is right – it was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better. Just wasn’t thinking and want to say I’m sorry.

good on him least he comes out with an apology
hopefully it'll lead to him getting his head in the right place to play some great golf

fined too
