Charley Hull

it had nothing to do with her accent whatever it is, I also like southern and posh, in fact I have no idea what her accent is....nor care:thup:

it was as I already stated the way she talks i.e what she said in an awkward stumbling way........yes yes I know she is an awkward stumbling teenager and thats the way some of them talk....I just said I didnt like it:rolleyes:

we all clear now? nowt as queer as folk

Ah - OK

She seems to be a very grounded, polite young lady, and I am very impressed with her attitude. I hope she enjoys her success and it doesn't spoil her. I am also looking forward to her returning Look East interview, the one before she went to the USA had to be held at the local pub, as it had started to rain. I am sure the BBC tv crew didn't pick a pub to film in, would they? Poor Charley would have been the only one without a glass of falling down water

It was funny as the presenter was unaware she was in a pub and suggested she was at home! She said she was in the local then quickly mentioned the rain and that they had been outside!

I find her hard to warm to for some reason but thought her play was amazing. Her attitude is perfect for the golf course and I for one can learn much from it...

Fantastic performance and maturity way beyond her years. What a fine few days as she had the family over with her and it was her dads birthday on Saturday as well. Loved the way she congratulated Creamer on the bunker save and think she'd have done exactly the same if she had been in a tighter game. It just seems in her nature. I do wonder if Poulter gave her some tips as he was at Woburn recently

They have more incommon than you think Homer. Charlie is coached by Lee Scrabrow from my club, who coached Ian Poulter and started him out on his successfull career. Have spoken to her and her dad a couple of times when they have been in the pro shop, he is a very nice down to earth bloke. She played with Scarby in the Sunningdale Foursomes the other year and they got to the quarter finals i think. Even then she could give it a ride, she would knock it up near our first green which most of the male members fail to do.
Well done that girl.

Thought I should throw my bit in.

I'm from Kettering and play at the club where Charley used to practice on the range. Whilst I can't defend the Kettering/ Northants accent, I can tell you that everyone is buzzing about the hottest thing to come out of the county since the boots worn by Cromwells army in the civil war!!

Charley Hull has an amazing swing and has done for as long as I can remember. I can remember her from when I started playing about nine years ago, she used to spend hours practising with her Dad and absolutely loved it. I bet he is the proudest man in the country if not on the continent.

On the subject of sponsorship, Nike were circling round her years ago, I remember them bringing a specially fitted set of irons to a demo day specifically for her to try and she was only about ten!!

What she has done is truly inspirational and its great to see the knock on affect that it is having on not only the local girls and boys, but all golfers in the area.

Congratulations to Charley, the european team and Lotte Neumann for some inspired picks and pairings.

Can't wait to see what the future holds for Charley and the women's game in Europe.

Will

Just heard that Charlie Hull's regular caddie was asked to step down from the Solheim Cup as he didn't have enough experience

I'm not sure if he did and was replaced or if he refused and still caddied for her, after-all, he's got her this far and think to be asked to step down, whether he did or not, was pretty poor.

She said in her interview something about her caddy having caddied at The Solheim Cup previously so perhaps she did change for the event. She strikes me as a tough cookie who'll do what is right for her at any given time (ie risking missing The Curtis Cup) so any change would have had her approval I'm sure.

5 runner up spots in her first 6 events on tour or something like that?

Phenomenal!

Did anyone else read all the comments at the bottom of the page?

Enough to agree that Lydia Ko is recognised as a star in the making too.

Hull is certainly going to be another star, but there's some way to go yet! Getting into the LPGA asap, with a limited schedule, is a reasonable step.
