Charley Hull

The whole team played fantastic but she was just brilliant considering her age and relative inexperience.

She played Paula out of the game and even when it looked like she was about to close out and Paula holed that shot from the bunker it didn't phase her - in fact she really looked like she enjoyed it and mentioned it was a great moment she would remember all her life - you don't get too many sports men / women saying that when they have just crushed someone.

Very level headed and a great player - high hopes for the future.

High five for her competitors chip in.... waiting for competitor to compose herself before rushing in for hug after winning... A very classy young lady!

Taking the inordinate amount of skill and talent she has aside, her conduct was an example to most of those much more advanced in years.
There was no whooping and hollering, no arm/fist pumps like a gattling gun, when she putted out she simply picked the ball out, game a polite and simple wave and moved on.
While the American "ladies" were clowning around like chimps over a 5 footer for a half.

The measure of the golfer is only matched by the measure of the character in Hull.

didnt want to post as I'll probably get strung up like a chicken at a fox barbecue:eek:

I didn't realise you knew her

Great playing, didnt seem bothered about it being her first solhiem, just wanted to go out and play. Yeah the interviews were a bit awkward but that will come with time and when she gets a bit of media training.

One to watch for the future for sure.

And so does the North South divide rear it's ugly head around Charley Hull's accent - and no doubt the class divide will soon have us pointing out her cossetted and priviliged upbringing. Actually I don't give a stuff. If a priviliged soothern upbringing means she quietly thanks her caddy every time he gives her advice with a smile and a pleasant 'thankyou' rather than a shrug and a dismissive 'whatever' then good on that upbringing.

And let's please leave it at that. The American golf viewing and playing public just love her to bits for her politeness, civility and manners. Thank you Charley. You are a star and I for one am proud of you.

I don't think the poster actually commented on her "southern accent " .
they might equally have not liked the fact that she described something great as Wicked.

only 1 person has brought up her accent, yes I'm looking at you!
methinks you are looking into this a bit to deeply...... I'm not interested in a debate about her, just a balancing comment with nothing underlying or otherwise..............it was just a comment:smirk:

When I was 17 I could barely string 2 interesting words together, let alone having just won the Solheim Cup or whilst being interviewed on live tv.

Well done Charley.

Well someone made first comment about her accent and it wasn't me.

I don't like her or the way she talks...

And if the dislike of it wasn't it's southerness or poshness then I'm not sure what the dislike could be. I will remain humbly corrected if I mistook her geordie accent for something it was not.
