Changing jobs because/after Coronavirus

I'm in the same position Brian. I have my own business which I'd decided to sell last winter., I had a buyer and we were 2 or 3 weeks away from concluding so that's gone belly up. I'd been approached about a role back in Life Sciences which I was really hoping I'd get but they have had a reappraisal post Covid and want someone with experience and internal to hit the ground running as it's in respiratory. with little financial help for limited company directors and zero work coming in although I'm ok for a few months the job market situation is making me very nervous as I've 2 young kids as well.

Similarly, I was a Ltd Co director contracting in the business consultancy arena. Most places have canned transformation programmes in the Covid situation. I was savvy enough to have banked quite a bit to see me through 6-9 months if needed (even outside of Covid). Not nervous yet, but ask me again in 3 months.

I've got 6 months but that's 3 months used already as March was virtually zero. It's what business looks like on the other side that's concerning me most.

It depends on your field of specialism. Mine is in efficiency and automation so I suspect a lot of businesses will need to look at reducing operating costs which might be useful for me. I think the market will pick up around August, no science behind that, just a gut feel for when businesses might start to hit critical state.

Well back on full pay now and entering consultation period for redundancy, there is one available job between 4 off us, we have got a scorecard rating our performance, I’ve got 27 out of 30 but will have a meeting to contest one of the scores, I’m more than qualified and training fully up to date, yet 4 out of 5....
Applied for another couple of jobs as well, just to try and be proactive.

My wife's company (a household name) said publicly at the start of lock-down there would no compulsory redundancies "this year." She has just had call where there are asking for 150 voluntary redundancies out of a division of about 800.

To be honest she would be delighted to get this, as she doesn't really need to work now and hopes she can help her oppos who have kids and mortgages to really need to keep their job.
