You will all probably remember my post last year about RAGC having lady vice captain this year and subsequently captain next year.

Well, to continue the theme on moving with the times the latest revelation is that Jeans will now be allowed to be warn in the clubhouse as part of a review of the Dress Code (the usual caveats of no holes\rips etc withstanding).

On top of this, a subject that has been raised a few times on here seems to have been addressed and that is, why do the ladies only have a choice of one tee? Well, down RAGC way we have just had a SSS applied for the ladies when playing off of the men's yellow tees. The SSS is 73 against a par of 70 and will make quite a difference on a few holes, not just in terms of length but to some of the carry distances over hazards as well. It's always puzzled me why the ladies only get one tee choice so this seems to make sense. The idea is to try to attract better lady members with a more challenging course.

With this, the new course manager making great strides in the condition and presentation of the course, a new general manager starting today (I think) to oversee everything and a revamp of the junior section, things appear to be looking good for the future.

Now all we have to do is wait and see if the fees are going up to pay for it all!!!

Sounds good. I wear jeans to the pub, restaurants and to every other sports club I visit.

As for the choice of ladies tees, that sounds brilliant. Never heard of that 'solution' before! Well done all!

I think this is superb! I'd certainly be attracted to your club by this... If you were a bit more local!

The folks at Louise's club should take note!

This is a genuine question and not intended as any kind of dig.
Why would women get a different SSS off the yellow tees? I thought the SSS was set from the difficulty of the hole, not taking into account the ability of the person playing it?

Excellent to see Hawkeye! Especially the SSS. Though not sure why they didn't do the Whites for Ladies as well.

Where did you see this. Not had any communication on any of this. I sent the new GM an e-mail about communication as the Captain said he was starting early January so I'll be interested now he's in post what he says when he gets to it. I think the club is moving in the right direction although money is our biggest issue. We aren't alone in that

The captain's february newsletter is on the website, I'm surprised they haven't mailed it around

SSS is based on an analysis of the course from the perspective of a scratch golfer. They look at the areas that a scratch player would expect to land their shots and the hazards etc in that area an assess the difficulty from there. You wouldn't expect a scratch lady player to be hitting he same shots as the men and therefore the course would be judged differently.

Right, got it, thanks for explaining.
