• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

Chambers Bay

I really hope the wind blows..........we could be looking at cricket scores if it does!! I hope Tiger's caddy doesn't let him near his driver or else we could see him do a 'Reggie Perrin' and walk into Puget Sound after 9 holes

7,800+ yds seems brutal too but it'll be good seeing the best in the world tested to the extreme.

Having watched the course flyovers this morning the players could be faced with some very challenging short game shots when they miss greens.

Paraphrasing what someone said of the first hole "if you miss the green left by 10yds, when the ball has stopped the green could be 50' above you."

Got to give lefty a big chance if his long game and putting are anywhere near on. This has to be his best chance of a US Open if they go back to the narrow fairways/deep rough formula next year.

Looks incredible!

Just seen a vid on twitter of Lee McCoy, an american amateur, walking down what appears to be something wider than a cart path but narrower than a fairway whilst bouncing a ball off the surface.

Bounced like a rubber ball, sounded like the wicket at Lords in mid-July! What fun we're going to have :D

I wonder what hole they'll put the clown's mouth and windmill on!!!

I have a feeling it is going to make epic viewing.

I agree, while watching -18 etc is all very exciting, I want to see players grinding out a bogey!

I think Pugh tweeted this morning something like :

Easy pins -5 will win
medium - level par will win
tough pins +5 will win. He reckons it will be between tough and medium.. Expect a slog!

It's going to be fascinating viewing. A very different mental test to the usual PGA Tour events. There could be some real blow ups from the players that would usually be expected to be up there.

I get the feeling anyone that starts chasing a score is going to rack up something massive.

Also think it will be someone who hadn't already won a major that comes out on top.

Sneaky feeling.

2 in 2 i agree with you Gary!

It definateley wont be a bomber, someone like Luke Donald, Keegan even Na. It will be who thinks best will win. In fact, I'm gonna stick a few quid on Luuuuuke!
