Following on from the tough test at the Irish open I've Got to say I'm looking forward to the US open at Chambers bay.
Especially as a few players are apparently saying the course is a bit of a farce...In other words it's too tough and they don't fancy their chances.

Hit the greens on right sides, attack when you can, defend when you need to and get on with it!!

Looks fair enough to me :D They've all got to play the same course.
Just get the ball in the hole and move on ;)

Same here, I tune into the US open as it's always one of the toughest tests, the way they set the course up, but dont get excited until a few days before.

This time, I've been waiting for months for this one, due to it being a links course, also.

I'm looking forward to it aswell. Apparently big Phil has been spending A LOT of time there prepping, also fancy Peter Uhline (sp) as I think it was him who won the U.S. amateur there.

For me all the majors should be hard and reward players who keep it in play.
Normal pga target golf is crap, they spray it all over and still have great lies no matter where they hit it.cant beat knee deep rough to sort the wayward hitters
out.I bet most of our courses have deeper and harder rough than most of the
pga courses.

Apparently they can and may change the par of holes 1 & 18 from day to day from 4-5 and vice versa.

Also, some of the tee beds have been purposely built to give uphill, downhill & sideways lies :D
That's just something club Golfers put up with every week ;)

i don't think he's even played it yet but it sounds like the self proclaimed 'postman' has been getting involved
Well he's stated he's spoken to tour players who have played it and they've claimed its a complete farce. Then got into a ding dong on twitter about it. Great preparation

US Open is always a highlight and stands out from the normal PGA tour venues and set up. Chambers Bay looks to be no exception, I'm also looking forward to it.

Haha- I bet he likes it if he has a good tournament :)

Just been looking at the Chambers Bay website and the GM article on the course, looks really interesting and looking forward to seeing action on holes 5 & 7 in particular

No doubt its going to look visually stunning on TV and for $300 a round I'd want to have a go on this course way ahead of the comparably priced Royal Lytham & St Annes (just as an example)

This is well worth a watch if you want to see how Chambers Bay is shaping up, also good if you're interested in watching a talented, attractive female golfer who's named after a beer.

Should be a real test for the pros. The best players should play the hardest courses, you don't see jockeys complaining the national fences are too high or showjumpers/eventers complaining their courses are too tough, they relish the challenge and step up.

Excited for next week!

i enjoy the attritional aspects of the US open. if it wasn't for the set up there would be little to distinguish it from a regular PGA tour event or the PGA championship.

it's going to be on really late at night though isn't it. a west coast finish - might be 1am on a school night?

More likely a 3-4am finish for us. The official website says the last pairing on Sunday will tee off at approx 3pm which is 11pm BST.

The place looks the business and should make for a great US Open. I love the way they set up the courses, thought Pinehurst last year was superb and showed Kaymer to be a class act, similar to Medinah the year Rose won.
