Celebrity Pro-AM Wentworth

Is this televised? If not, it should be.

Would be worth watching (if only just as a 1 hour highlight program)

It would make very poor TV imo!

And 90% of any 'good TV' bits would only have a tiny bit of Golf in it just to knit it together!

Why????????

Would it be worth televising golfers playing football or singing at a karaoke ?

No it would not and it is certainly not worth televising the usual roll-call of ex-footballers, boy band members, high rolling gamblers and the like knocking it round the West course at Wentworth.

Why not.

They did a televised celebrity golf tournament years ago and it was brilliant.

A friend of mine is there today, I haven't made a Pro-Am before so would be interested to go once. I went Thurs-Sat last year and it was great. This year I am only able to make it Friday due to working the weekend and playing Sunningdale Ladies GC for a society day tomorrow.

No rest for the wicked! :fore:

I agree 100%

If you dont like watching celebrities playing golf then you aren't forced to watch it

But i love watching this type of golf

I seen one a while back, i think it was GB&I vs World ina ryder cup style with ex footballers. It was fantastic, even though the standard varied between some very good players, and some even i would feel comfortbale playing with!

Let's just focus on getting more "proper" golf on television and leave the celebrities to the jungle.

As for the previous pro-celeb TV events I would have to disagree, they were cringeworthy.

If you want to watch hackers just visit any club, any week-end.

I watched some of the pebble beach pro am, it really is cringeworthy stuff.

Not long got back - really enjoyed the day! First time on the Pro-Am day which meant it wasn't too busy, more comfortable walking round. Have to disagree with what's been said about the Footballers - all the ones I saw were pretty decent players. Jamie Redknapp, Phil Neville, Teddy Sherringham - who drives the ball very well, Peter Schmeichel and also Anton De Berk (of Strictly Come Dancing) who also has a very fluid swing, as you would expect from a top class dancer. He was a scream too, all smiles and performing a few jigs on the dance floor, oops, sorry, the green! On one of the long par 5's he drove the ball further than the Pro. Of course though, the big difference with the amateurs, was being able to stop the ball enough on the green and also landing it in the best area for the easiest putt.

The other big difference this year, was the tented village with lots more interactive things to do. Such as a long putting competition for charity, a deep bunker to try and get out of - I tried 3 times unsuccessfully! When my mate was having a go, Thomas Levett was looking in and he asked how to play the shot. Thomas actually got in the bunker with him and gave him a mini coaching session! And my mate got the ball out. I jokingly said to Thomas, "Show us how it should be done". He then obliged and hit 3 super smooth shots out, one just left, next just right and the last only just missing the edge of the hole.
What a nice touch from Thomas Levett, an impromptu gesture which everybody appreciated, and a fun guy too!
There was also a long driving comp and even a tennis serving speed comp.

All in all a great value day costing only £11 each, rather than forking out £40 plus on the competition days. Next year we are going to try the practice day on the Tuesday, which is free, so will just have to pay for parking.

It's the road hole bunker they have in the tented village
