Tony Jacklin lived in the village and played at our club and is still an honorary member. Ben Dover, Neil Down and Phil Mccavity didn't get past the interview stage unfortunately !!!

Used to have the likes of Ruud Gullit, David Platt, Gianfranco Zola and a few others at my old club. I nearly ******* Vialli with a drive when he wandered out on my fairway one time. He reckoned Zola paid me to do it.

We are all members of golf clubs covering most if not all of the UK, so, what celebrities do you have at your club and how approachable are they.

I appreciate the word celebrity can be taken in various guises, but I'm sure you get the jist.

We have, in no particular order:

Dr Phil Weaver OBE
Steve Ogrizovic
Andrew Carman

Not a member but seen regularly on our course and in the bar, is James Nesbitt :thup:

I'm sure there's a few more that I've not seen or come across yet as I missed all the summer comps last year, I'm not aware of any golf Pro's on tour who originate from us, but I'm still learning about a lot of the history of my club whilst gazing at the many photo's across the walls.

Steve Ogrizovic, did you say - he has one more European cup winners medal than all of the London clubs put together.:ears:

Apparently Peter Shilton has just signed up at our place and I've seen Freddie Sears (Ipswich striker, ex West Ham) around the course as well a few times, although I'm not sure if he's actually a member.

We turned Geoff Boycott down because he insisted on free membership. His wife is a member.

Social Member for many years has been Brian London and I think Frank Carson used to pop in too....both lived locally. Once saw David Essex come in for a meal when appearing in one of the shows in Blackpool......in jeans.
