Celebrity Members

We are all members of golf clubs covering most if not all of the UK, so, what celebrities do you have at your club and how approachable are they.

I appreciate the word celebrity can be taken in various guises, but I'm sure you get the jist.

We have, in no particular order:

Dr Phil Weaver OBE
Steve Ogrizovic
Andrew Carman

Not a member but seen regularly on our course and in the bar, is James Nesbitt :thup:

I'm sure there's a few more that I've not seen or come across yet as I missed all the summer comps last year, I'm not aware of any golf Pro's on tour who originate from us, but I'm still learning about a lot of the history of my club whilst gazing at the many photo's across the walls.

Seen Mark Wood and Ben Stokes round our place as well.....Stokes smashes it miles!

unfortunately none of them are the famous ones

Though Willie Whitelaw was a long standing member and the front Lounge/bar is named after him.

Not a member but I had the pleasure of a game last year with John Miles, who uses my local driving range. Really nice, down to earth bloke. He's a member of another local club. Have photographed him professionally too.

Nice timing Fish, I was just wondering myself how nice it must be to have celebs playing at/visiting your club.

Makes an interesting round of golf, assuming they mix in and open up that is.

I presume some will be more private than others?

For the record I don't have a club yet so n/a for me. Although I would see it as a selling point!

That said I probably couldn't afford the subs if the place was packed with celebrities.

Mick Coop ex Coventry City and Derby County player. Plays in same group of players as me. He's one of the lads and great dry sense of humour. He's been a single figure golfer for 50 years. Very impressive.

You forgot the old fella who owns Gentoo, parks his Lamborghini's and Ferraris next to my van lol.
I remember Stokes playing behind us, nearly hit us on 3 didn't he with a 300 odd yard drive!

Used to be a member at ours. Story is that he left in a huff because he was asked to abide by the dress code.

Christy Jnr (RIP)was made an honorary member in our place last year , played with him twice there , loved his thoughts on the club & his ideas , I had/have 3 gripes with the place , he agreed totally with me and loved pouring over his ideas to improve them ..
