I wonder just how many celebrity golfers there are out there.

Kemmy Dalgleish is supposed to be pretty good, and I've heard Alan Hansen (ex Liverpool, now BBC footie pundit) plays off around 4.

Others,

Bruce Forsyth
Jimmy Tarbuck

Gotta be loads out there.

Jamie Redknapp is a pretty good golder (single figures if I remember rightly). Tim Henman is a single figure golfer, Chris Evans erm....there's loads.

Vernon Kay is another.

Thought Henman had got down to scratch. Julian Dicks (ex West Ham) I seem to remember tried to play a few Eurorp tour events a few years back (without success). Isn't jugears (Lineker) suppose to be decent too

the list is very long, though not necessarily distinguished.

a huge amount of ex sportsmen and actors play at some sort of level, for the better end look at the field for the dunhill at the end of the year (likes of hugh grant, samuel jackson, ian botham, gavin hastings, tim henman, catherine zeta jones etc)

From the world of rock I give you Alice Cooper and Tico Torres (of Bon Jovi). Both are cat 1 golfers by all accounts. I believe Alice Cooper is actually on the staff of Callaway.

There is a US golf magazine that publishes a list of hollywood golfers along with their hcap.

Last week I was playing in front of Mat Dawson and Carlo Cudicini. Good friday, Harry Redknapp was at our course. The course where I play, we generally get tottenham players play. John moncur (a member at our course) plays off scratch (very good player). Don Hutchins is a member, He is there 24/7 lol.....he is a single handicaper. Ray Houghton is a member but not seen for a few months.

I'm pretty sure michael owen is a scratch golfer

That doesn't surprise me, he does'nt spend much time playing football.

He's just overtaken Jamie Redknapp in the all time sicknote hall of fame.

The money he's made for the amount of games he's actually played must be obscene.

I was once playing at Frodsham in Cheshire, as I was rooting around in the boot of my car a Ferrari pulled up and Dietmar Hamann got out and Michael Owen rocked up in a Aston on the other side! Rumor had it they were looking at buying the course, but nothing materialized !

Val Doonican was 3 handicap. Botham played off 4 and Jimmy Tarbuck was a very good player. But the best example was Ted Dexter, who had to choose between golf and cricket as a career. Ted was a scratch player even though most of his time in summer was dedicated to cricket. BTW Doonican was an Irish singer, popular in the70s.

There have been some good golfing cricketers. Gary Sobers was low single figures, and i think Ricky Ponting is a scratch player. One of the best all round sportsman, must have been Dennis Compton. One of the all time great batsmen, played football for Arsenal, and had a six handicap.
