How scared of you will they be when you play out of your skin and rip it down the first, they are professionals at putting mortals at ease and most of them as mentioned earlier are good guys.

I played in a pro am 12-15 yrs ago and Gordon Banks Mansell and the like were their and I must admit it was a great day and they are only human. However I must admit when we met Jose at the event with Nespresso and GM I was really really star struck although he was a proper bloke.

Enjoy the day it will be one to remember for sure no matter how you play the very best of luck.

I kind of get what he was saying, in an arse about face way.

I'm not sure it was meant to be insulting.

You will be pleased to know that this is the last comment I am going to make on this subject, but I would like to draw your attention to the OP's comments:

My point is that this worship of the so-called heros is strangely commonplace these days and I find it sad. I was a Hillside when we let KD & AH through in their buggy, and I was dismayed to see some of our party practically prostrating themselves at their feet. I think it's sad. That is my opinion. I respect your contrary opinions and I still hope that the OP has a nice day a Woburn.

Teeing off one evening on the 1st at the Old Course a week before the Open Monty was stood on the 18th tee doing an interview. So I took my tee shot and it went towards the Swilken Bridge. By the time I get to my ball Monty has now moved to the bridge to carry on his interview. Standing in front of Monty, his caddy, his manager, and a TV crew I played a shot into the middle of the green and got a "good shot" from Monty. A moment I will never forget.........

Your a braver man than me! Being this close to the "great" man puts you in harms way of being spat on, verbally abused or beaten up by his body guard or caddy!

Been lucky enough to play with a few celebs and sports stars over they years and most have been very normal and good fun most of the time. I'd suggest a similar approach and they are more likely to open up and be quite friendly. Be overly gushing or looking like a rabbit in the headlights isn't very cool and does look a bit naff. Many do it unfortunately.... Enjoy your day and relax and it will be a great memory.
