Long shot, but has anyone ever cancelled a holiday before going on it? We'd booked 4 days in Bruges but the wife has been signed off work for a few weeks as she's having a hard time with pregnancy (5 months, well within travel limitations).

Decided it's not worth the hassle for her, supposed to leaving 2 weeks on Wed. I have insurance and paid for it on credit card but as i can't speak to insurance until tomorrow i was looking for a heads up. I know it'll cost me a few quid in fees etc, but what are the chances of getting my money back? Booked with lastminute.

Anyway i'm not too disappointed, as what she doesn't know is that i was away getting custom fitted for a shiny new set of AP2's this morning, and if i can recoup some of the holiday funds i can get them next week....so this dark cloud could definitely have a silver Titleisty lining , hope to christ she doesn't read this!

Thanks in advance

You will almost certainly need a certificate from your wife's doctor confirming she was in no fit state to travel when you submit your claim.

I can't say but have to tell you that I was in Portugal in the volcanic ash problem and Lastminute.com were the very worst company that I have ever dealt with, and I would seriously urge people to avoid this shower like the plague!

I wish you well and hope that you get better service than I did from them

Chris

Standard practice with holiday insurance would be whether the reason for not travelling is a pre-existing medical condition...not the pregnancy, the illness attached to it.If you booked knowing about the condition, you're snookered, if not, insurance should pay out.

It will probably be a portion from last minute (spit) with the rest from insurance minus excess.

Did you pay with a credit card? This is a must! They may be able to help.

No, it's not. The credit card thing that arose during the ash cloud must have been like chrimbo for credit card companies. When booking a holiday the only real thing to look for is if the holiday you have booked has ATOL protection. If it does, you can pay by any means and your money is safe.

In this particular case, I doubt any credit card company will assist ( unless the holiday insurance is thru the cc)
