Giving a driving lesson?

Had a few drinks last night and wouldn’t have liked to have driven this morning. However the daughter asked me to take her out driving at lunchtime.

She is pretty much ready to sit her test, and was going to do all the driving, so I agreed, but the thought struck me later that I might have been in trouble if there was an accident or we were stopped?

Surely as the qualified driver you need to be capable of safely taking over driving if there is an issue.

Same laws as if you were the driver

Can’t be over the legal limit

I hadn’t had a drink for more than 12 hours, so it’s likely I would have been ok, but I don’t like to drive if I had more than a couple the previous day.

That's interesting. I'm sure I remember my driving instructors reading and sending texts with other students, arranging lessons and whatnot while I was having my lesson.

I'm sure many do...against the law though.....and if you get caught it's 6 points.
As a driving instructor if you get 5 points on your licence you can lose your teaching licence.....

This. A mate, who likes a pint to say the least, went home in the passenger seat of the car lad behind the bar was driving. The local bobbies saw the car leave the car park and thought we've got one. As the lad was a learner the car driving wasn't perfect and the bobbies pulled it over about 1/4 of a mile from the pub. My mate got out and a discussion took place on the lines of....have you had a drink (to my mate) who answered to the affirmative, how many? He looked over to the lad driving and they discussed the evenings session and agreed it was about 10 pints. The bobbies were now in awe, as my mate was totally in control and seemed perfectly ok. They got him to blow in to the bag and it lit up (or whatever it does). Anyhoo, he got, I think, 8 points from the courts. It was 2 short of a ban I think. It was a while ago.
