Morning all,

I have been asked a question today but do not know the answer.. Any help will be greatly appreciated...

If your due to play a doubles match and for one reason or another one of your opponents has not turned up as they are running late. If you start the match, 2vs1 and the opponents partner turns up after 9 holes, are you permitted to allow him to join his team or is at the discretion of you and your playing partner???

I assume its up to you if you allow them to participate or not....

As far as I was aware you can though may be no help by the time they are caught up and ready.

If it's a better ball, yes you can start without your partner. If it's foursomes, greensomes etc your snookered.

he can join his partner anytime, its not up to you or your partner, you have no say

The absent partner can join his mate during the match on completion of the hole being played when he arrived. Also be aware that if the absent/late partner has the lowest/best handicap the differences for the other 3 players are worked out from his h'cap.
