Can a player be DQ for smoking.

Unusual situation I’m suprized her pps havnt said anything.
Why would they? She didn't smoke on the course.

But it doesn't really matter. I hasn't got anything to do with the ROG or COC, although there may have been a COC to make life easier for the golf officials.
The organisers of the whole shebang (IOC?) prohibited smoking on any property they had control of. If she or anyone else was smoking they would be escorted off the premises.

I agree, a smoking ban would be a good thing if the course is dry and a fire risk but you can't ban it just because you don't like it. What next, banning alcohol, fatty foods, ugly people, women? ;) JK
Just being a tad ridiculous now.
Smoking has an effect on others who have to put up with the stink.
I've never seen a smoker do anything with their butt other than just chuck it away. So, impact on the environment too.
BTW, drinking alcohol on my course is not allowed.

Edit - Bob was just kidding 😂

If that’s the one that was on the news I thought it was on the course.

Yeah that’s the one.
No problem with her smoking (it’s her choice).
But just seemed like it was a “look at me I’m smoking”.

She doesn’t come across as the brightest tbf.

We frequently ban smoking on the course during protracted dry periods. I presume that any competition that is played whilst the LR is in effect would lead to DQ is a competitor smoked?

Just curious, is it a local rule though?
If that were the case wouldn't that mean a spectator could walk the course smoking away watching a 4-ball, while the players couldn't smoke

A smoking ban put in place due to possible fire risk is a ban for the entire course, not just for those playing a round of golf

She's 28 years old so has known just how bad smoking is plus had the whole shamefulness of smoking (IE making it anti social) all of her life. In 2007 the smoking inside public places came in so she would have been 11.. so didn't grow up around smoking inside. Add that on top of being a top level athlete she really doesn't have an excuse to smoke. I'm glad the Olympics banned it.

Most of her family smoke so she will have grown up with it being 'normal'
She started smoking in an attempt to kick the vape she was using

And yet, none of this explains why the proportion of people who smoke is highest in the younger age groups (18-24 and 25-34 - ie all of whom would have been aged between 1 to 17 and in their formative years after the ban came in.

If there is a fire risk from smoking, I understand.
If there is no fire risk, mind your own business.
It's their money, their health and it's not illegal.

If you're playing with a smoker, keep your distance
If you're the smoker, be aware and don't light up on the tee and discard your cigarette ends carefully.

What would happen if both players of a 2 ball both smoked, would they still be banned?
