Bunkers

How many people here play at courses where the greenkeepers rake the bunkers from centre out?

Honestly the bunkers at WK are fine in the centre of them, possibly even a little thin on sand however the faces and edges are about a foot deep meaning any ball which catches an edge or a face just plugs and doesn't run back!

I had to play out side ways at two holes today due to almost unplayable lies and on both these holes I couldn't take a stance in the bunker to play my shot unless it to chop out backwards or to the side. This was all before my tea party in the bunker on the 16th fairway!

Bunkers are meant to punish but gee whiz that takes the biscuit!

I don't mind bunkers having plenty of sand in them of where it is but I do hate it when all the bunkers have different amounts of sand to the point it's impossible to know what's under the ball.

Our's rake all the sand up the face, we have reveted deepish pot bunkers and yet the sand is covering the bottom 3 feet of them. if you roll in a bunker from off the fairway, it rolls up the face and plugs and if you go straight in, it plugs as the sand is too soft. Many at the club have asked why this is and all yo get as a reply is "you shouldn't be in them then"!!!!!!!!!

Getting stuck in face of bunker is bad enough but when you land in the middle in someone's old footprint or where they havent raked it properly really annoys me.

Although I did manage to avoid them yesterday :p

Got stuck on the face of one at 17 yesterday. Not much sand in our bunkers but when I hit the shot I was horrified just how deep the sand under the ball was.... Knocked it out the bunker but didn't get it as far as the green..... Would have had to wallop it. Cost me a double bogey but, in fairness, it was the rubbish tee shot at fault - no need to be in that bunker!

That's just coming across as whining now, don't go in it :D

Its hardly moaning. Its an observation of mine. I have no objections to being punished but when you have three almost unplayable lies due to the ball plugging in the face then its clear there is a problem. I see dear old Paddy understands the issue I'm trying to describe. A situation created by the greenkeepers!

This gets my goat up too mate. Its because people don't rake em properly!! They get the rake and as they are walking out just pull all the sand back up towards whichever way they heading out of the bunker. Inevitably leaving no sand in the middle and loads around the edge.

Only too well dear boy. Played in the Moray league yesterday against Hopeman at home . The guy I played against went in a fair few. After I while I felt sorry for him as pretty much every time he was up the face.

8&7 win by the way;)
