I think we have been doing this unintentionally for years. GM August edition Page 131 Rule 14-2b. Must let my mates know as we sometime stand behind each other when we are putting!
Just shows, I've been playing this game for years and still don't know the rules!
Still it's not surprising really - cos some of them are a bit strange. What's worse - having a fresh air shot or hitting a 250 yd drive that kicks OOBs on its last few rolls. It's the fresh air shot as there is no penalty. Now that is stupid - it should be a two shot penalty plus the shot, in my opinion.
