Recently started refilling my golf supplies due to a considerable amount of time from not playing.

I have always found it a mystery (and something I am affected by) that a large amount of us feel the need to stick with one brand. Or a couple of different brands. I started off with Ping S55 irons and now find my whole golf bag turning into Ping! Part of this is down to knowing the quality of the irons so associating that with quality elsewhere. But part of it is definitely vain.

When trying clubs out do you ever find yourself drawn to brands regardless of how well you are hitting it with others?

I need sorting out....

I started with Ping i25 irons love them

forced myself to play g25 driver 3W &3# did nithing for me at all

now have Tm R15 Aeroburner mini Xhot 5w Adams 3&4# and Cleveland wedges

all these clubs do different things and suit my game

learned my lesson

but my pp have all Ping and all titleist and look like Tour Pros (or bellends)

I was given a free set of old Cobra Irons, and ever since I built my bag around the brand.

I thought a club was a club was a club. Went in to try the new F6 Irons, which I intended to buy, only to go with AP1's, which seemed to work much better for me.

100% agree that we get drawn to certain things. Mind you my kits not matching now :(

It's true. I get the sarcastic 'are you sponsored' question all the time. The scotty will always stay in the bag though!

I grew up watching Tiger, and i think it has rubbed off a bit!

I constantly find myself wanting the next new nike product even when i know it will do nothing for me.

I've managed to wean myself from it and now my putter driver and bag are nike but nothing else!

Ping fanboy too. Think the quality speaks for itself. I like how they go about things, they aim themselves at club golfers with lots of a touring fitters/fitting days. Customer service is as good as it gets too.

I'm totally the opposite when it comes to OEMs. I prefer the smaller companies and be totally different then the normal run of the mill....
Wishon, Geotech, Icy Golf and Raa is what's in my bag. The only OEM i have is my Mizuno Tour bag.

Had all Ping G10 then got fitted and changed to Cobra Amp. Now gradually changing back, got G30/25 woods and wanted to get a set if I series irons but I went and hit them at my local Bobs store and wasn't massively impressed, actually thought my Amps were better! Decided to get the amps re-gripped and save my money, giving £100 of it to my pro for a book of lessons instead! First time I've ever been sensible.

I'm not knocking your choice, but why? There has to be some driving factor.

My irons are Miura, which most haven't heard of, but when it comes to woods I'm always drawn to Titleist. My first Titleist driver was a 975 followed by a 983, 907 (big mistake, it was awful), and currently a 909. I'm hoping to pick up a reasonably cheap 915 when the 917's are released later this year. Since my 975 I've never even tried hitting any other brand of driver.

I just like to be different, and besides just cos they are not well known doesn't mean quality is compromised? The irons I've just got are equally if not better in quality then the ones you buy off the shelf. My first set of blades were Sounder SB IV's then I went to Titleist, but then got fitted with Snake Eyes blades which are still the best clubs I've owned, then 2 sets of Wishon. My wedges are customed grind to me and not the generic grinds you are getting now, and my putter is fitted and designed for me and you can't buy it off the shelf. Even my headcovers are different and not matching to brand apart from my putter cover.

I tend to go with what suits me and so my bag is a bit of a mish-mash
Driver and fairways - Benross Hot Speed 2
Irons - Callaway XR (3 weeks old, previously Mizuno MX-900)
Wedges - Mizuno MP-T (may be looking to change these as they're knocking on a bit)
Putter - MacGregor V-Foil M6.4K putter
Balls - Callway Hex Chrome

I'm probably more loyal on my grip branding. Winn AVS Midsize for my putter, Lamkin for everything else.

Lots of titliest in my bag, driver, 3w, 5w, 21 and 24deg hybrids and Ap2 6-PW

Cleveland wedges and a Ping Ketsch putter.

not sure why, I've always gone with titliest for woods, but the Ap2s have replaced Nike irons, which replaced TMs, which replaced Cobras, which replaced Wilsons.

Not fussed at all to be honest, will happily try more or less anything. If I had the money now I would buy some srixon 545s and have each section of my bag by a different manufacturer.

I used to try and have a matching bag in my junior days.

I am very different these days, I just use what ever works and will chop and change u till I find what works. I never sell anything until I am sure the new replacement is better on the actual course.

I miss my MP-52's, I'm trying to love my TM RSi TP's but it's a false love and is more on the rocks than cuddly, happy with everything else, almost, but I'm very restless with my irons currently.

Clothing I've turned into a right Galvin Green fanboy

Both of my pp are brand snobs

One titleist other Ping

will not even try TM or Callaway because of the product cycle?
Adams hybrids or Odyssey putters

to me its very narrow minded and iv told them that

both went to fitting at the HQ of the respected brands...

so you can only compare your old clubs against thr brand your going to buy?..
