Went to get into my car to go to work yesterday, found the offside rear window smashed, glass everywhere.
Car was unlocked, checked inside to make sure they hadn't nicked the stereo etc. Luckily I hadn't left anything in there. Bloody annoyed as I'd only had the thing 4 weeks.
Drove to work, told the boss and got the car taken up the bodyshop. An hour later get a call from the Police who want to come up and take a statement.
Apparantly they had caught 3 lads early hours who had been driving around Bexhill shooting at car windows with a BB gun. They had poggered about 12 to 13 cars and also shot at a woman who was sitting in her car (stationary) making a phone call.
They had the 3 prats in custody, I offered to go down to the police station to "have a chat with them" adding that it wouldn't cost the taxpayer a penny. Policewoman laughed and said "I can't allow that". She wouldn't even let me "chat" to the one that had been responsible for popping my car.

Absolute turds, the lowest of society, do they really have nothing better to do and have that little respect for others. They actually hurt someone, I bet they get away with naff all. They want shooting themselves, if they do let you have a chat I'll gladly drive down and help to make sure they understand!
 
Had something similar happen years back. I saw them jump from one parked car onto my parked car. I gave chase,younger and fitter then, caught the one that did it and fortunately at that point the police arrived. Their parents ended up saying I'd assaulted the wee scroat who did the damage. Fortunately I'd not laid a finger on them. Police were able to verify that fortunately.

Ended up at local sheriff court and them being bound over for good behaviour after social work reports due to them being in foster care.

Meanwhile, there was the issue of damage to two cars that had to be sorted out. Really pissed me off that they got away with nothing to make them think about doing it again.

I'd have brought back the birch for them ;)
 
The way that the court system is in this country if they hadnt hit the woman, they would probably have just got a caution.

But the fact that someone has been shot makes it GBH or assult with a firearm, so someone is going down for that.or rather "Youth Custody" which means a holiday camp

Bring back the stocks, they wont do it again after a bit of ritual public humiliation

and make the parents pay for the damage and the police time spent .

After all that trauma, I trust that the police will provide counselling for you Smiffy. They did a few years back when some scroat(s) broke into my car.
 
I'd contact the police and tell them you want to claim against the driver of the 3 for causing the damage.

I'm sure he's insurer wouldnt be covering him for long and it would go on the national DB. Worth a try. Also in some instances when it reaches court if it goes that far you get to meet them ;)
 
Id ask the police if you could have a "restorative circle" with the little oiks. Its becoming the "in" thing with police were by the offenders meet face to face with the victims to discuss what they had done. Fair enough you don`t want to "discuss" anything rather give them a slap.
 
There are far too many people making too much money out of *hits like these, social workers who protect them because:
A. They get paid a good salery to do so.
B. They have had a deprived upbringing because their scroat parents couldn't be bothered to go and get off their lazy fat arses and get a job and they spend the dole in Mc D's, William Hills and the local booze store.
C. They get paid a good salery to do so.
What the chuff is nick for, bang 'em up, if they do not want to live in civilised society then throw the key away no one will miss them, apart from the social workers.
 
Would be interesting to pursue the insurance angle from the kid driving but chances are he was under-age and driving illegally anyway. At the end of the day work got the repair done quickly and they didn't trash the car totally but guranteed nothing will be done to these kids. Probably infringing their human rights to even confiscate the BB gun
 
Had this happen to me a few years ago when some little torags had been running up street kicking cars police caught them a few nights later the ned's father was at my door offering to pay for the damage to my car, not because he was sorry for what his scum bag of a son had done but because he thought the courts would go easier on him if he could say the damage had been paid for, while i was happy to get damage fixed. couldnt believe that it was actually the dad that was going door to door apologising and paying for all the damages his son was probably sitting in pub not giving a toss and laughing.
 
You may laugh but just wait till some 12 year old jumps all over your car causing loads of damage and there's not a thing you can do about it.
You claim off your insurance, lose your no claims bonus and up goes next years premium.
What happens to the little chap???? Nothing. Nowt. And he knows it

Well write a letter to your MP, but that will achieve exactly the same result as coming on here and moaning about it.
