Guys,

I said in earlier post that I was going to be using my old maxfli Australian blades this week. Well I only went out and shot a 76 (par 70)

I was five over after three holes and nearly lost my three iron as the grips were now so smooth and brittle. Once I got used to the grips I played the last 15 in one over and the bogey was a three putt.

Not sure how I suddenly found some form so I took the blades to the range last night and hit them really well again. I can’t really convince myself to put them back in my bag though.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!! I hate this game

I love my blades too.

Big clumpy irons don't do it for me. Can't bring my self to look at them, let alone hit them.

Stick with them, you know it makes sense.

I think you should play another round with them to make sure it wasn't a freaky Friday thing before you decide what to do - good score though!!!

Also, I count 14 clubs - but then again I do work in finance and am therefore rubbish with adding numbers unless a spreadsheet does it for me. 1xDriver, 1x3 wood, 1xhybrid, 6xirons, 4xwedge, 1xputter = 14?

Doh! Thought it was a 2/3 hybrid not 2 & 3 hybrid - I'll get me coat.

If I ever play StuartD I'll have to remember to count his clubs - not til he's 1 up with 1 to play on the 18th tee though ;)

IMHO blades are not as hard to use as people think. More important is the right shaft and whether they physically fit you.

However I did once hear a celebrated pro from my area gleefully announce to his peers after cruising to a regional win at Walton Heath...."I am never standing on a cold 200yd par 3 in the winter with a bread knife in my hand again!! Anyone not using C******ys is a c*** !!"
