Black or Brown Shoes

Firstly i cant see the site crashing down because you wont be back , most didnt even notice you were here in the 1st place, the so called serious golfers on here also respect that others wont agree with them & sometimes wont even bother commenting on them , they also have the audacity (spelled FREEDOM) to disagree..

Good to see the highly qualified scientists have nothing better to do than look at a handicapping system for a sport they dont even play , ever thought if you are so disalousioned with it you could always play a different sport? , also if his responce was total rubbish mayb you shouldnt ask him again , :D .. come to think of it you wont ever see this if you not coming back again ,ah shucks,
any how us shoe sales men will continue to lie about lenght & also how far we can hit the ball ;) , drool about shineys , ask about each others balls & how stiff our shafts are , we will slag , argue , disagree & laugh together , when someone wants advice we will offer our (non qualified ) thoughts & ideas , You take care now bye .... (darn it your not coming back to read this i forgot) Rant over guys sorry

I like the above post. Sums it up to a tee. Plus saved me wearing my one finger typing to the bone Ta very much.:D ..

Most of the respondents seem to have missed their vocation - working for shoe retailers! They are also too young to remember that before they were born you had to learn to play to 18 quickly since that was the highest handicap permitted!

1. I like orange shoes.

2. Before I was born, people played with hickory shafted clubs as well, but that's about as relevant as the previous maximum handicap of 18.

3. I bet you don't like calling people though on the course.

Oh no!!! It's all my fault.
I "ridiculed" his "serious" post because I digressed onto shoe preference!!! I apologise. :o

It was still a boring post though. Sorry pal, it was just so loooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg!!!!

Settled on black ones by the way guys. Goes much better with blue trousers in my opinion. ;)

Wonder which forum he's gone to now?

I've black or white shoes only.

Did see a nice pair of the Ecco Hydomax the same as my white ones, in brown in the pro shop sale. A bargin but i couldn't quite bring myself to buy brown shoes, as my mother used to say never trust a man in brown shoes!

I wasnt playing golf when the old system was around. However, I have bore the brunt of a few senior's saying that in the good ol days I'd have been cut off at the knee's based on one decent score I had earlier in the year.

Surely its fairer to earn a single figure handicap, than be given based on 1 awesome qualifier in the 15 or so i have played this season, most of my other rounds were pretty much bang on my handicap.

In short,,,,I like the system and wear white and brown Geox's in the Summer and Black Nike's in he winter.

Your're just trying to get this thread diverted to a slow play disscussion.

Was a white in summer, black in winter guy but bought some lovely chestnut brown Contours this summer and they look great with khaki or navy trousers. Super comfy too.

Oh by the way I think the CONGU system is OK. Not perfect but it does a reasonable job. The real problem with the h/cap system is that people get too worked up about it and fixated with their handicaps. I used to as well.

It's just a bunch of numbers. It shouldn't be confused with Golf.

Bit like the World Rankings...

You will also see that hardly any of the so-called serious golfers which this magazine claims to represent bothered to properly read and digest my suggestions.

Sorry, what was the point you wanted to make, you lost me when you started the rant !

I won't bother to visit this site again. Most of the respondents seem to have missed their vocation - working for shoe retailers!

Ok, Bye - thanks for your contribution

White for me :D

I read all of the original post (must be a serious golfer me) and while there were some points that were of interest, the old system you refered to would generate more incorrect handicaps at the other extreme, ones that were too low for the ability of the golfer who plays a "perfect" round and has the audacity to score 40 points or so.

If your aim is to remove the possibility of any golfer scoring better than handicap other than once in a blue moon then your old system makes sense. If the handicap system is to show a true reflection of a golfers ability then the CONGU system is much better.

Your other key gripe seemed to concern the time it can take a rapidly improving golfer to reduce their handicap. If left solely to the CONGU system this can be a problem but a decent handicap committee can and should make a general play cut if a golfer is scoring consistently below their current handicap.

But getting down to the serious businees, I've always worn black apart from one brown pair that I bought some years back which were slightly too small and pinched my toes  and I'm afraid I might have let that cloud my judgement on purchases since then.
I could do with a new pair soon so maybe it's time to let bygones be bygones and consider brown again?

When the Captain pushed through on the first tee the other day, I noticed he had a nice pair of predomently white shoes with brown crocodile toecaps and heels (Very Jiménez'esque)

As he was replacing his headcover to his driver I asked if he thought the current Congu handicap system was retrograde step in dealing with the punshment of high handicap banditos so abundent these days. He reflected for a moment and said "Every one has their day in the sun" Before walking away he suggested that in future try closing the van door before removing your trousers in the car park.

White shoes? Never have and never will. I think any bloke that wears them is crackers. You look like a ballroom dancer.
