I am toying with the idea of getting a new driver, I have a golden rule to never try anything that I can not afford at that time.

Any way today I tried the Callaway x2 hot had been offered a cracking deal on this so it was in budget. Unfortunately the driver was not for me or should I say my swing was not for it.

Then came the mistake , I tried the Taylormade SLDR - took it out on the course and wow loved the club , not hitting it a great distance compared to some people but all of a sudden I was actually getting some roll out when the ball landed, never had this before due to my steep angle of attack. The ball flight had also changed for the better . Unfortunately this club at the moment is out of my price range.

I then had a go of the Taylormade Jetspeed (I think that's what it is called)- again it went a lot higher than the SLDR but still went for me a good distance, I am taking this out on the course tomorrow hopefully for a blast. Again this club is out of my price range at the moment.

Bloody Taylormade making good drivers and making me have to save up even more money also stupid me for breaking my golden rule.

If you get the chance try a Cleveland Classic XL. They have a similar low spin prnciple to the slider but cost £89. I love mine and it was such a bargain

just wait a few months, the SLDR mark 2 will be out and the old one (can anything under a year old be old?) will be sold off cheap;)

i played on Sunday and had to use my friends spare driver (left mine in the garage after swapping bags) PING K15 this has got to be the easiest driver to use long and straight,i never missed a fairway, dont be dazzled by the new shiny advert try one and see.

I've borrowed my mates k15 short term and it is a lot easier to keep on the fairway. A bad swing is still a bad swing but it's much straighter. I did notice though it's a lot shorter off the tee.

Giving serious consideration to this, as I have the 3 & 5 and they are great.. when I hit them properly that is, as I can struggle to control the flight due to their closed face.

Just trying to decide whether to try 10.5 again, as my current WS is 12, and I'm finding it is beginning to balloon a bit on me now and stop where it lands rather than run out. Lesson on Friday which will hopefully help to decide, and a visit to AG to try this bad boy out.

Aye, so I popped into AG this afternoon to have a try out of the CCXL.. tried 12deg regular to compare with my current 12deg DXi, and also the 10.5deg in regular and stiff.

There wasn't much between the 12degs, but the 10.5 ...wow!

I didn't quite get on with the stiff flex, but the regular flex saw me easily outdistance the DXi, and I was pushing around 250 average with run on a good strike. I'm only pushing around 210 with the DXi.

I fell in love with it, so bought it. Sadly no pricematch as no-where online was cheaper on the regular flex but given the performance, I was happy enough to fork out.

Now need to decide what to do with the DXi, will likely sell it on rather than have it gather dust in the cupboard but no idea what price to go with.
