Beware of who you are selling too..

I should have mentioned in my post earlier that we can make it harder for dodgey characters to sell, but it really takes the seller to beware when selling too.

Phew, I go away for five minutes and return to a witch hunt. lol
I find this whole topic a bit odd, besides lacking a whole lot of information. Personally I wouldn't entertain paying 100 quid for any used club including the one Tigers wife used on him.
To name someone on here for some kind of alledged dodgy dealing might open another can of worms when only one side is expressed. It may simply make them change their details. If you have a name and an address just go round there or take legal action. Failing that just swallow it as a learning curve.(What goes around comes around)

NO ONE IS 100% trustworthy and you can be almost certain that half the strangers on the web will be as trustworthy as Robert Maxwell. If that is hard for the rose tinters to accept, all I can say is...."Should've gone to spec savers!"

Trust is a combination of experience over time ballanced knowledge of someone, and then only measured by degree. Any other form of trust is simply mistaken hope.

Thanks very much for your sweeping generalisation.

He comes back with his pro told him the club is a fake and has an issue with paying. Well I emailed the said pro and he informed me that he did look at the club and told the guy that the club is genuine

That'd do for me

Bit of a mare...

Didn't Mono17 get fiddled on here with a scotty he sold, the said person didn't even send any cash just left the forum with Mono's putter.

No offence to anyone but I personally think the SALE section should be closed, it draws this type of person or people onto the forum intent on robbing members. I will stick to what I originally said and that we shouldn't have had it in the first place. If some friends want to sell kit on here between themselves no harm done, but when the sale section is searchable on Google and open to anyone then the riff raff turn up.

I don't think the section should be done away with altogether, but feel that a member must have made a certain number of posts and been a contributor for a reasonable length of time before they can buy or sell.
I've stated before that a photographic forum I am a member of have a very strict selling/buying rule.
50 posts (could be 100 I haven't been on there for a while) and 3 months (could be 6 I haven't been on there for a while).
I'm sure that this could be implemented fairly easily via the forum software.

sorry but this is more crap than something crap on crap sunday. I have had 3 dealings in my short while one this forum, 2 were clubs that were better than described from both buyers, and one was a electric trolley. one of the tranactions trusted to ship while my bank transfer was going through because he could tell i was genuine.

As a rule forums are filled with like minded people who want a good genuine deal as they cant afford to "sh*t on their own doorstep"

In my opinion this guy has paid half the money and then found a get out clause by making up total bullsh*t.

If the club had been fake, he would have wanted a refund of he's first payment, not use it as a EXCUSE not to pay the other half

the club pro confirmed that he did NOT say the club was a fake but confirmed it was genuine.

I think that's cutting off your nose to spite your face.

The vast majority of people on the forum are pucker, and here in good faith.

I just think we all have to be a bit sensible when dealing. When EaseNgrace sold me his clubs, there was no dodgy stuff - he showed me pictures ( :o  ) I liked what I saw.

I then gave him the money, once he had received it, he passed over the goods.

The only 'trust' element was me trusting that he was actually going to send me the goods, but he offered to take payment by paypal, which I believe takes care of that.

A proper deal, done in the proper way.

No need to have any fears or doubts. No need to have a certain number of posts - just a little bit of judgement. the less contact you have with someone, the more you would need to safeguard your position.

Of course I'm sorry for the original situation, and agree that the purchaser is a scumbag, but with hindsight it wouldn't be difficult for that transaction to have been better safeguarded.

Parmo,

If you don't want to use the for sale section then dont, in fact don't even comment on it. Bottom line is for me and many others its a good way of getting rid of kit or buying kit. I have sold and bought without even a hint of an issue.

I've sent on a 3 wood out for someone to try before he bought it, I've bought a bag which was delivered before payment had been taken from my account!

Not everyone is dishonest, and to tar everyone with the same brush so you can say "I told you so!" is rather childish.

I agree Craw.
Although, there are still scumbags out there.

Look at that RickG fellow for example.
He's had my/Jan's PK wheel almost a week now and I haven't seen a penny yet. Scumbag
;)

Numerous people ripped off, the people who have ripped others off not even banned...

Bollocks you old fart.

Are you having a laugh? This is a golf forum on the interweb not the 19th down the local.

This forum is turning into the OAP section of a golf club more and more each week.
