I remember being shown a fairly sure fire way of winning on the roulette table (just a small amount at a time). It was dead boring, only one bet roughly every 20 spins of the wheel, but I was glad I kept the taxi fare in a separate pocket one night. All systems only work for so long.

Roulette:

I had a system for this.
Based on spreading bets around zero.
Then watching for starting position and speed of the ball as it is released.

Typically a croupier at a roulette table will throw the ball at three speeds. Let's call them slow, medium and fast. And i noticed the following happens;
Slow - it will finish (approximately) opposite where it started
Medium - will finish (approx.) where it started
Fast - no standard pattern

So, if a croupier released the ball at a slow speed opposite zero or a medium speed on zero, I would place a bet. To clarify, it doesn't have to be on or opposite zero as I would bet on the six numbers either side (so 13 numbers in total for a return of 36/1). Each winning bet will return 3:1.

I would not place a bet for any other variance.

Believe it or not, I made £4k doing this (started off with £1k which I made from betting on golf).

It is seriously boring. You can sit there for an hour without having an opportunity to bet. Which puts pressure on you to find chances to bet. And you can only really do this online, and the online roulette games kick you out if you are inactive too long. So you have to keep logging back in. Yes, I made a lot of money, but I no longer have the time available to sit watching a roulette wheel spin.

Golf:
I had some great success betting on golf previously but haven't done so in a long time. I also don't watch much golf anymore as I got rid of Sky.

My system was as follows;
Spread my bets over a large range of golfers whose odds are typically over 90-1. The smaller the odds, the bigger the bet. Always bet each way.
My selection process was relatively random but would often include people who had played well on the final day in the last tournament, golfers I liked or people I had a gut feeling with.

My system was designed so I would make a profit if I either had 3 finishers or the winner and a finisher.
It was successful. I made profit three years running. But I'll be honest, a phenomenal amount of luck was involved. For this to be successful you need the favourites to perform badly every week.

A guy I work with just got really exited about a 10 game accumulator he won. He basically picked a game he really wanted to gamble on (Celtic - Rangers), and then added 9 100%er games to increase his stake from GBP2 to whatever it was he needed to win GBP20 at the end.

He basically added 9 chances to get it wrong. This time he got lucky. A lot of effort for GBP20.

As for roulette, what Londonlewis describes takes proper skill. Wasn't there a case where someone built a computer that did that? I think there might have been a movie as well?

A way to win at the roulette is bet GBP 1 on a colour, if you win take it, and bet 1 again. If you loose then bet 2 so you win your stake an the previous stake(s), keep going on doubling that way until you win. Once you won start at 1 again. The risk you have is a lot of losses after each other so you don't have the money to cover your needed stake. Think rice and chess board. And some casinos have 'outlawed' this approach, I think.
It's also tedious an boring and you can't win big. Only a pound about every 2nd turn, statistically speaking. Of course you could start on a million, but you might have to put 16 back in to cover, ...

Not that fast, more slow and boring. But still, if you are able to carry a billion on a streak of a bad 30 rounds ;-)

10,20,40,80,160,320,640,1280,2560, 5120 etc so over 5 bags chasing 20 quid if losing 10 even money shots in a row. Seen plenty try, and plenty fail.......

Very hard to keep your bottle when you're sticking over a grand on a roulette spin; massive bankroll needed to finance a relatively small win (learned this a long time ago!).

Matched betting is a much better option if you have the cash i made a tidy sum a few years ago following being made redundant (lots of spare time and lots of money in the bank is needed to make it work).
