Better late than never.

Consideration of the handicap sec. Should be cut under Clause 23 as it was a measured course with an SSS. Cat 1 players are a different kettle of fish though Bill ;). My home club will tend to cut for returned scores that warrant it though. If they don't cut then so be it.
Cat 1 will never be a problem for me mate ha.. ive returned decent scores in my time never ever been cut tho ,

is your society handicap the same as your club handicap .? my society was considerably lower at 1 stage but i returned it as scored off my club handicap , just in case
ie society score of 35pts off 1 was returned as 41 pts to my club ..

Just curious tho.. I understand SSS counting for a supp card as you are only person playing ,
surely for equity you would need a CSS if there were a group playing

Not anymore lol. Now down to 15 for the society. Was off my official playing handicap yesterday but would consider any score based of actual playing HC.

Reading Congu it's submitted for the handicap committee consideration. It's up to them to apply any reductions based on SSS. I know my home club would tend to apply reductions for society scores that are returned showing you played better than handicap. Maybe your handicap committee either ignores them or simply doesn't feel the need to apply a GPA.

Or more than likely dont ave a banana of an idea

Well played anyway mate , always good to hear people wanting to get cut #respect

Will be submitting all scores since finding out the requirements of Congu. Had always been told it was a requirement to submit scores where you play better than handicap to the home club but never knew about the all scores requirement until I checked the full CONGU requirements about 6 weeks ago. Fortunately that won't have had any real impact to me this year.

I was under the impression that these were seen as General play and Congu didn't do GP cuts anymore!

well done anyway

Society competitions count as non-qualifying scores that should be submitted in the Irish edition of the CONGU manual.

"In Ireland, players and clubs must report to Home Clubs:
(a) All Qualifying Scores together with the relevant Competition Scratch Score.
(b) All Non-Qualifying Scores from Team and Society Golf played over a course for which the Union has allotted a Standard Scratch Score together with notification of the relevant SSS"

In some society outings these conditions don't exist, such as last week where we played a significantly shortened course set up for winter. Other society outings are usually scheduled to take advantage of open comps so these are fed back as qualifying scores with CSS etc anyway. Yesterday did met the conditions for the course but was non-qualifing as it wasn't an open. It was a measured course, with a SSS. I have to submit my card and let the handicap committee decide. In most cases the handicap committee at my club do implement a cut where warranted. My brother recently got cut 2 strokes based on a society score so I know it can happen. I'm just hopeful that this will buy me a little bit of a buffer to try and get my handicap down again.

Thank god we've not got that over here yet, played (quite well in fact) in a few society outings this year, never even considered having to put my cards in!
