Layla in Goodfellas, I m not sure if its the violence or a combination of the music and the graphic footage near the end but it really lifts the hairs on my back when it plays. It really portrays the feeling of the end of an era for all these wiseguys, very good.

Great choice, haven't seen that film in ages. It's always on at 10pm on a sunday so to watch it all you'll be up till 1am, i never make the final hour.

Always look on the bright side of life from Life of Brian.

Best memory it produced was at the QF of the 1991 Rugby World Cup Ire V OZ in Lansdowne Road, Aussies score a try with 15 mins or so to go, place deadly silent when the terraces erupt with "Always look on the bright side of life".

Nobody does it better, Carly Simon from The Spy Who Loved Me.....although dated its still one of the very best intros to a movie with Bond skiing off the cliff and the Union Jack parachute before the song kicks in.

Not so much songs from a soundtrack but used in films....

Don't stop me now - Queen - from Shaun of the Dead where they're beating the zombie landlord whilst the song plays on the jukebox

And , for pure added atmosphere.....

In the house - in a heartbeat by John Murphy from 28 days later . Really makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up

Read my mind regarding Ocean Colour Scene Chris.

Rate them very highly, "better day" is one of the best songs ever written, Word.

Have seen OCS many a time, the best being at the London Astoria about 8 years ago. I have all the albums but went off them once Weller decided to pull them apart.

Great band... Fleeting Mind from the Moseley Shoals album is my favourite, along with Robin Hood from the B-sides and free rides album.

As I mentioned on the films thread, best soundtrack on a movie for me has to be Apocalypse now, pick anyone from 7 or 8 top tunes.

robin hood is a great track - the b sides album is very good, acoustic version of the circle being a particular highlight - I might even fish it out this afternoon, you've inspired me to have a listen!

movie songs are so numerous, most good tracks have been used in a film at one time or another, but songs that spring to mind written for films inlude:

dont want to miss a thing - armageddon
highway to the danger zone - top gun (hell yeah!)
